Dizziness and predisolone

Diagnosed PMR in April 2023 and LVV in November 24 when predisolone was raised from 3mg to 10mg pred. Reducing by 1mg monthly down to 5mg. However I am experiencing dizziness particularly with head movements lying and moving around. I have suffered BPPV on and off for some years but this episode has been persistent and doesn't go away. Have had this for past 6 months. Anyone any similar experience. I was thinking of contacting Consultant for a view on this. My markers have been controlled but anxiety at times has been high. I tried leflunomide back in Nov 24 for 39 days but was unable to take it due to the drug affecting liver function. Awaiting seeing the Consultant end of April when I fear he may suggest another steroid sparer. Thank you for reading this.

Blowed if I would take a "steroid sparer" if I was happy at 5mg!! I'm on the ultimate steroid sparer, tocilizumab. And I still can't get under 7mg. Half of us can't. All of them are bad for livers ...

Has your GP tried the Epley manoevre in case it is BPPV again?

Thank you. Yes I will see GP and speak about possible causes including BPPV.

Yes, I suffer a lot with dizziness. But not everything for everybody is connected with PMR! My symptoms were explored & tests made and I was diagnosed with orthostatic (postural) hypotension, as well as BPPV. When Ihave BPPV I try the Brandt Daroff manoeuvre,as it’s easier (but as effective for me) than theEpley manoeuvre ,which wasn’t recommended to me to try on your own. I’m not saying it’s not connected with PMR, I don’t know enough about PMR…but I do think there’s a danger of connecting everything to it! If you think about it, if we didn’t have PMR it’s unlikely we would be 100% healthy all the time, so isnt it likely we will encounter other things while we wade through PMR? Why not see your Doctor?

Thank you for this and I agree other issues come along and I have an appointment with the GP and look at possible causes.
