Depends -do you know state your bones? I’ve been off Pred for 8 years but at my last DEXA it was recommended continuing VitD/Calcium supplement-so I have - still on prescription from GP.

Different circumstances , but always worth checking out.

Hi and thanks for your response. My last Dexa showed everything was good but that was a couple of years ago, so maybe time for another.

It will be interesting to see if you can get a Dexascan on the NHS if you have stopped taking pred. They seem to be like hen’s teeth in my area.

Good point - it was hard enough getting a Dexa the first time round (when I was still on Pred :)

I stopped Pred nearly a year ago and despite having 2 DEXA scans being good for my age, my GP said I would be on Adcal for the rest of my life on prescription.

I’m came off Pred in January this year and still take Calichew D3. The last DEXA in August last year said bone density normal but to continue Calcium D3 and Risedronate. I’m certainly not taking and more bisphosphonates but ok with Calcium

Congrats for getting off pred! I have been off for about a month after having taken prednisone for almost 6 years too. I am planning to stay on overthecounter calcium along with D3 and K2.
