Sleeping demon still stirring?

I've posted occasionally over the 8 years that I've dealt with PMR and owe a great debt to everyone here. The information and advise gleaned from here has been invaluable for dealing with PMR and functioning with a busy life.

I finally made my first true attempt at being off prednisone about 3 months ago and it has gone reasonably well. I've known that it takes more than a few months to declare victory and over the last 2 weeks I've noticed a few aches but really not much. Of more concern was the increasing lethargy and overall feeling very tired most of the time over the 2 weeks. I decided to take 5 mg of pred for the past 3 days and, while not perfect, definitely can feel a difference. My thought is that the PMR is still there but at a very, very low level. Or is it more likely to just be the adrenals awakening in spits and spurts? I'm tempted to go back on 2 or 3 mg and see if that smooths things out.

Given the time scale - I'd try going back to 1mg after a week of 5mg.

Thanks for the refresher course. After all these years I think I knew the answer, but needed to hear it from someone else. Back on the prednisone saddle again but that isn't a bad thing as far as I'm concerned!!

I don't see it as a problem either once you are down to under 3mg. QOL is all!

For the record, agree with PMRpro…

With the tiredness it could be your adrenals. It can take up to a year of zero pred to get back to normal.
