Honestly can't remember anyone with those markers being out of range on pred alone. Are you on anything else?
However, high dose methylprednisolone is associated with liver effects. In this case report the liver values returned to normal over a period of a few weeks without any medication. I assume it depends how bad it is.
I can't find anything about kidney problems though,
However - if you need medication to help sort it out, it would be silly to refuse them out of hand. Doctors are unlikely to offer you anything not necessary.
Please can you complete your profile page bio with some details like history. diagnosis, dose of pred and how you have tapered so far. Otherwise we are commenting in a complete vacuum and may be telling you absolute rubbish!
Congratulations! Prompt, emergency intervention with powerful "pharmaceuticals" may have stopped you going permanently blind! Hopefully, your GCA can now be controlled with much lower doses, causing ever-weaker side effects, and will eventually go into remission. That would seem the lesser of two evils. Not everyone (including some members of this forum) is so lucky.
