Monday I had the procedure under general anesthesia-safely and successfully. The did give IV cortef at the start of the procedure. Since they needed to intubate my throat is sore for days but my ears-especially the right one are achy. I was debating why aching now; pollen count is moderate, and my jaw has been sore from managing my airway. Having been an anesthetist for 37 years I know the drill. I debated about upping the pred for a few days or using short term Naprosyn. I was taking Tylenol and it helped but the stuffiness in the ears is painful. I opted for the Naprosyn and certirizine this evening. On 7 mgm prednisone .
The thought of GCA lurked in my head. Otherwise I feel quite well considering I'm soon to be 82.
I add, that when the local anesthetist saw my pulmonary function tests he did not want to do the procedure but my daily exercise paid off. The fact that I had improved my general condition convinced the NY anesthetists it was safe to proceed.

I would be tempted to do the sick day rules for the ears and throat. You have had quite a battering and it will probably help. Have you had any medical advice on the symptoms you have now? Maybe you should in case it is an infection. It sounds to me like you are a strong independent person who has done really well to go through all this. All the best for a complete and speedy recovery.
