Tapered to 2 mg

I have now been on 2 mg for a week and was expecting the usual fatigue when I start at a new lower level but instead this time I feel better than I have in months, much more energy. I hope it lasts! Does this typically happen when not so much prednisone going into the body?

So positive, almost scary. Let’s hope this is it!

Well, even if it isn't "it" as far as getting totally off the pred, it's a low dosage so that's an improvement. And my mood is way better, too. I started a new exercise regime and I'm wondering if that is helping, too -- I'm spending 15 minutes a day on the treadmill, which gets my heart rate up more than regular walking, and then doing some strengthening exercises that I was doing before but they seem to be working better now.

I feel good because thanks to help from this group, I stood up to my rheum dr about the tapering and did my own version of a slower schedule, so maybe that helped, too. Listened to my body.

Your regime is clearly paying off.

Sounds more like your adrenals are working better…not back to normal yet, but certainly on the way.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. I've been on a major nutrition binge too -- making smoothies to be sure I get all I need (I live where meals are part of what I pay for but it's not the healthiest diet). Start the morning with a smoothie of a mix of yogurt ruit juices, berries, dried pea protein and whey protein, a litle brewer's yeast, and powdered calcium.

Good, but as PMRpro has stated, they aren’t always that reliable… so if you get an odd day when you don’t feel so chipper that’s why.

It can happen if the body is finally catching up with producing its own cortisol. but it tends to be a bit unreliable to start with so you might feel great one day and less so on another.

Yes, I am mentally prepared for that, but today sure was a great day and I got a ton of errands done I'd been putting off, then baby sat for my granddauther (who is a dynamo at 18 months) and afterwards dinner with my son and daugher-in-law.

That makes me tired just reading about it!!! And I'm rather younger than you! Well done.

Yes, I am seeing that already. But one day anyway felt hopeful!
