Skin Tares and Showers

Like a lot of us I get skin tares and sometimes wind up with a nurse practitioner dressing the wound. Recently I had one on my leg and the dressing had to be kept dry. ‘Oh no! No showers.’ I moaned, (I’d like to say it it wasn’t a moan but it was 🙄). ‘ Haven’t you heard of Limbo?’ She replied. Well no, PMR and skin tears for 6 years now and never heard of Limbo. In case you’re like me and this is new to you, Limbo produces plastic protectors/shaped bags for legs and arms with a magic seal that keeps out the water. I’ve used mine several times now and can testify that it works. Apparently they can be used for baths too! It’s wonderful! They are obtainable from a well known provider and other sources I’m sure. So here I am, clean and fragrant. We live in an amazing age! 😀

When the nurse dressed the awful wounds on my leg it was with showerproof dressings . They were easy to peel off and she gave me extra to last until my next appointment. They were completely sealed. As you say, an amazing age.

Yes it’s great. I think it depends on the wound and what is happening to it. Hydracolloid dressings worked fine for me until on a blood thinner. Now Urgutol work but they can leak 😀

oh, yes…I’ve had my leg in a huge bag, my arm in one…if plastered, they are a great help! Oh, & I had bad leg ulcers for a long time, too. And yes, they really do work ina bath, too!
