Isn't your GP or Specialist prescribing something?

There is Dermol and others. You should be getting something on prescription though. I'm not sure which is the most suitable for your need. What have you tried so far?

Hi,

Not sure where you live, but if in UK then DoubleBase cream/lotion can be prescribed by doctor - or purchased in any pharmacy - or online.

Example -

chemistdirect.co.uk/brands/...

Don’t use shower gel too profusely, just shower in warm water - and only use a gentle soap/gel just where required.

Cover affected skin with loose light clothes, so if you do knock arms/legs they have some protection.

You can also get plasters that don’t rip the skin.

Bit more info on dealing with thin skin etc -

Are there particular specific problems? Protection is a good start:

dermatuff.com/

There is a post about it where someone says how good they have found these products.

Unfortunately, once you have bruised badly the area remains delicate: the capillaries do become more fragile and break more easily as we age, pred does make that a bit worse.

Oh boy! Can I relate to this!!!! It's gotten better since I have reduced my Pred, but when I was on 80, 70, 60, even 40mg.... I was covered in cuts, bruises, and deep red, blood marks everywhere, especially on arms and legs. I used a lot of body oil, and cream and always covered my arms and legs. I also cut back on the baby aspirin (every other day) and lowered my intake of Omega III, both blood thinners.

Good luck! You're lucky it's winter!!!!!

Thanks for reply it’s nice to know there is someone else who has the same problem lol no I feel for you it’s horrible scared to let one of my little ones (great grandchildren) sit in my lap as I’m also wheelchair bound

Was told today it probably is the pills ie blood thinners steroids and azathirprine heart problems kidney transplant and pmr are what I take they are going to look into stopping azathiroprine but I’m a bit worried about that as been taking them for 29 years since transplant and don’t want to upset Freddy kidneys name lol

What are we like

Take care

Ps have you tried dermatuff

Leg and arm protectors I’m going to ask district nurse about them

I am continually getting bruises. I suppose if I continue they will join up and I will be a grey person, a new ethnic group! My skin is very thin and I get blisters if I have any pressure on the bruises or if I go out in the sun. I then have to go to the district nurse to get them dressed. A real pain. My legs look like I have been in a car accident.

I use zeroveen cream which my GP prescribed. It has really helped as my skin was very dry and delicate and wouldn't heal very quickly. It has improved a lot now I have been using the cream regularly. That's the key as all moisturiser creams only work if you keep slathering it on

I use a shower gel without surfactants too and only shower every other day. Unfortunately, Pred can cause skin changes so it's something to manage. Hope you find a suitable cream for you x
