Afternoon all

Just got back after 6 hours at Hospital to give them credit l was seen straight away .

Have spent a month on 9 mg Pred and was going to reduce to 8.5 tomorrow but for now it’s on hold.

For the last few days Have had random symptoms

Tender scalp which l do have. Now and then even before PMRe

Numb face on left side ranging from forehead to around check area

Random quick pains a around face

No problems during the night

Blood test fine but l did explain mine are never raised

Was given CT scan as thay are a bit mistified as to the cause.

was discharged and told to return if symptom got any worse .

So home with feet up resting

Was reading about such symptoms and the differential diagnosis this morning. How strange!

Sorry you have had/are to deal with such strange unidentifiable symptoms. It must have been quite worrying initially, but I'm glad that nothing serious has shown up. Hope it clears up completely soon.

I'm glad A&E ruled out anything more serious. Hopefully, it will clear up on its own. It could recur, though.

At least 85% of us oldies carry the cold sore virus (herpes simplex, HSV). Just like the chickenpox/shingles virus (herpes varicella/zoster, VZV), it hides away from the immune system within our bodies, and only breaks out when we are tired, ill, run down, or on immunosuppressant medication, such as prednisolone. Outbreaks can become more frequent as our immune systems weaken with age.

Pain on one side of the head or face is often caused by the virus 'reactivating' and causing a nerve to become inflamed. From personal experience, I know it can be excruciating. Sometimes, a cold sore will appear a day or two later; sometimes the damage remains unseen, beneath the skin, or inside the mouth or sinuses (inside the forehead or cheek). Then the cause remains an annoying mystery, unless a pattern appears.

Hi

l had my Shingles vaccine today

But on thinking back many years ago my face and headfwas very sensitive to change of temperatures.

But never reoccurred till now

So l am thinking along the lines of Nuralgia

Which fits with what you are saying
