Further to my last post, Dr. is sending me for a Dexa Scan and an MRI Scan to try and get to the bottom of this. Fingers crossed as it is not getting any better, in fact the Osteopath's exercises seem to make it worse.
Nerve pain in left leg.: Further to my last post... - PMRGCAuk
Nerve pain in left leg.
Which part of your leg or is it the whole leg?
Front of left thigh, from groin down to knee.
Front of the thigh nerve pain is very likely to be meralgia paresthetica
I have had the same scans etc , conclusion being little they can see or do as it appears to be nerve pain ( excruciating) and nerve tablets seem the only option.. Both specialists seem reluctant to push me on to nerve tablets as they indicate unpleasant side effects .
I have been away for a couple of months and I have tried some alternatives which did seem to help although it is difficult to know as I do have periods when there is no pain , however when away( for days and nights ) I was experiencing pain in my left leg same location as you every 10 minutes .i will check the name of the treatments and let you know . I am seriously considering talking to my ex GP who is now specialising in medical cannabis , In the absence of any alternative to Nerve tablets I am desperate to find anything which helps .
I will get back to you .
CAG 50
Many thanks for your reply. I will see what the scans reveal, I am currently taking Gabapentin at night to get some sleep, and Co-dydramol in the day, usually 6x500mg. The pain is excruciating and has had me in tears several times. I am the main carer for my husband who has had 3 strokes, and has Parkinsonism, and beginning to get dementia. Thankfully I have my 2 daughters and son-in-law close by to help. Hope you find something that helps you. 🙂
I hope all goes well, pain is very debilitating and drains you which is particularly more problematic when you have the caring responsibilities you have . I pray that you are able to remain strong and positive , best wishes to you and your husband
CAG 50
Following with interest after night of bad pain. Mine is different, as down the outside of leg. I guess it’s the bursitis feeling angry. But I would be interested to see what CAG50 is taking, as tranadol & buprenorphine patches aren’t helping the current pain. I hope the scans reveal something that’s easy to help!
So sorry that you have physical pain as well as pain of the soul and no doubt much fatigue. These pinched nerve pains are tricky to find and then I guess a shot in the nerve and pt are the only help for it. My right buttock hurts terribly when walking without a cane or trying to sleep without 400-600 mgs ibuprofen. I periodically get a sharp stabbing pain that causes me to gasp. X-ray showed nothing. I do not believe it is the pmr. On a cruise with my active step-daughter that would be a lot more fun if I could do the activities. Will have MRI of lower spine when I get home. Tried two acupuncture sessions. Made it worse. Post-total-knee-replacement of both knees, Tramadol did nothing. I did get sciatica relief several years ago from epidurals. Good luck! Will be eager to know what helps.
