Groin pain

The last few days my back has finally come right, I was just getting excited about being able to walk again but yesterday I started getting this awful pain in my groin when I walk, I can't believe it, just when I thought my life might get back to some normality! It feels like the tendons are pulling with every step. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems every time I get to 9.5mg pred the wheels fall off. The back will be ongoing due to selac fracture I suspect, but goodness knows why the groin is so painful. I really thought this year was going to be better!!!

Just as an aside, it's the right side which already has had a hip replacement.Janis

This was my presenting symptom with PMR. It is very disabling. If I get a twinge of it now, I know that I have gone below my optimal dose. This disease is an exercise in endurance with patience. I would take a little more Pred and abandon the tapering for a little while.

Maybe even 15 for a few days to knock it on the head! You are right it is so debilitating, every step is so painful.

Sorry to hear this - and although it might be a beginnings of a flare [so maybe treat as such] just make sure it’s not bursitis - very common complaint on this forum.

There are related posts on that subject. ..and targeted exercises help if it is. Hope it soon improves

Thank you, if the pred takes care of the pain I guess I'll have my answer. I'll make an appointment to see my gp next week when I'm home from the beach. Was so looking forward to this holiday. Best laid plans aye!Janis

Yes I’m sure you were looking forward to family holiday, but are you sure you haven’t overdone things … very easy when away from home and enjoying yourself.

My daughter has just sent some pictures of them harvesting plums from their garden … good job I’m not there or I’d be making jam for the next few weeks 😳….

No I haven't done anything for weeks, have hardly been able to walk for the back pain it seems to be one thing after another. 😤

I'd suspect bursitis - you will have been walking squint with the back pain, Find it tends to be one or the other - one improves, the other reminds me it is there!

I have been getting groin pain for some months which is due to needing hip replacement. I was actually waiting to go to operating theatre but didn't feel well and op cancelled. GCA was diagnosed and a year later PMR developed, thus increasing steroids once again. Pain eased considerably when I was on higher dose steroids but as steroids have been reduced, my groin pain has returned. Once I am below 5mg Prednisolone and stable, I hope to get hip replacement. Also on Methotrexate.

I had my right hip replaced 6mths before I got polymialga and the groin pain is in my right side. You have been through the mill, hope you get your op soon, it's instant relief from the aching pain. I'm so sick of pain, it's never ending. So hard trying to walk. Good luck!

It doesn't hurt to lie on, only when I walk. And that side the hip has been replaced, so no pain in the hip, just the groin, have taken 20mg this morning in the hope it may settle the pain down, tramol doesn't touch it.

Did you pull it? Sometimes, it doesn't take much. How did it come on exactly?

No I didn't pull it, I haven't done anything physical for weeks because of my back, that's what I can't understand, it just came on suddenly. If I'd overstretched or done something like that I could understand it. It's a mystery. Janis

Have you been to the doctor about it? An x-ray might be a good idea to rule things out even if it doesn't rule anything in.
