Hi - I had my blood test results back CPR 5 CK 203 they wouldn’t do the ERS test at my doctors surgery .unknowingly My rheumatologist looked at the results and sent me an email yesterday saying no inflammation and has referred me to another consultant prof Emma Clarke bristol for 2nd opinion to look into what’s causing it as she couldn’t find a answer other than stress!
Still not on pred as my dr is on holiday till next week. I have a zoom call with endocrinologist about my results 6th nov .
the Duloxetine has had minimal affect still waking in the night with sore legs/knees glutes are aching like mad and shoulders this can’t be just stress
Can an endocrinologist who suggested PMR actually diagnose it without a ERS test!
Thank you for your time again reading this

It was established that ESR may be more relevant to PMR than CRP but many labs no longer do the ESR as they believe the CRP is more reliable. It is very annoying but we fight a losing battle. My ESR and ferritin did go up although the ESR didn't rise above normal range. The only time CRP rose was a day I had a severe atrial fibrillation episode which would also cause it - never any other time.
A GP can diagnose it - no reason I can think of why an endocrinologist can't try pred and see if it works. But then you are back into the system without what many might class as a reliable diagnosis. Though response to pred would reduce the claim of depression or fibro.
Thank you I’m still going to push the dr on Monday to see if the pred works as nothing else has in the past and like you said it will rule out D/F I’m just at my wits end waiting on appointments
They only need to try Pred for about a week or so to see if it works or not. Some people do not have raused blood markers so trying out pred is probably the best test.
Thank you I’ll ask when I see the second rheumatologist if an ERS test was ever done and if they can do it, but I’m hoping the Dr will try pred in the mean time to see what or if I get any pain relief , although I’m sure I will as I did when I was on it December last year for a chest infection - it’s just the dr didn’t listen when I told her my joints/aches eased a lot whilst on it
