here we go again!

As the experts predicted I now have my 3rd uti.

I rang my surgery yesterday on the off chance I could get a repeat script but I don’t why I bothered because I just got the usual response of - no chance were fully booked- ring 111.

So I rang at about 4-30 pm -and 111 was also fully booked I think because I was told to expect a call from a practitioner within 2 hours. I went to bed at about 9-30.

And when I checked my phone this morning I saw I missed 2 phone calls received at about 3am and a message that someone would try for a 3rd time . I haven’t yet received that 3rd call and it’s now 3-30 pm.

In the meantime I’ve emailed my surgery to request some help because I’m convinced there’s a relationship between these utis and this piriformis syndrome which is still plaguing me.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything from anyone 😡

Does your surgery have e-consult? Or is that what you used? I find that it works well at our surgery as you have documented the problems for the GP and they can actually do something before contacting you.

thank you but unfortunately it doesn’t - so I used the general/public use message service.

I don’t think they’ll be happy!

What a pity. The sooner the medical profession staggers into the 21st century with IT the better!

Also on my third! My surgery has a box with forms and test bottle - just need to fill it in and drop it in bin provided. Also tell receptionist that it is urgent and script appears after dipstick test and before sent to cultures - not a doctor in sight!! X

not a doctor in sight!!

Not so much Doctor Who, more a case of Doctor Where The Heck …. but if the system works 😊

I envy you!

I can’t even get a test bottle without booking an appointment which also entails getting past the receptionist. I told them it was urgent which is when I was told ring 111😡

Same but ours gets cross and tells me off if I call 111 as 111 gives people an appt at the surgery. They want people to drive 25 miles to either walk in centre. Try doing that with a UTI. I am on number 12 this year. "No appointment, no sample accepted. No appointments available. Fill in the online form again tomorrow." Bah! Humbug!

Thank you and it’s so frustrating

Our surgery is also advertising that it can take new patients

But it can’t cope with the number they have now 😡

I’ve had PMR since autumn 2016,and then a couple over a few years ..however during the very hot and humid spell in recent weeks I had two in a month..I always drink more than enough fluids ,or so I thought, but seem to need even more to help prevent them in hot weather.Cranberry juice was helpful on these two occasions,it seemed to neutralise the urine and ease the burning.

My surgery has also recently set up a box with forms and test bottles..with prescription to follow if necessary.

Thank you for replying - I really dislike cranberry juice but I do take cranberry vitamins

D Mannose is another OTC which may help. I believe it is similar to cranberry sugars but more concentrated. X

I was getting repeated tis or what I thought they were, and when I went to urgent care (I live in California) they gave me an anti-biotic each time. Well, my dr had them run another culture and he decided it was not a UTI but was an overactive bladder and put me on a drug called Myebetrig and I have not had it since.

Had recurring UTI'S, but only since taking steroids. Stress also brings it on.

I didn’t realise there is a connection PMR/Prednisone and UTIs?… I have only just finished my antibiotics prescription for a UTI?… is there a direct correlation?.. please?

I’m not sure there is. I saw a locum Gp yesterday afternoon and she has prescribed vaginal pessaries. Give it a go for 2 weeks.

UTIs because the pred MAY suppress the immune system's response in fighting off the bugs, Cystitis symptoms of frequency and burning because pred and PMR can both cause irritable bladder.
