Vaccinations

After all I have been through in the last few weeks the thought of subjecting myself to potentially more trauma with going to the appointment for the Covid and Flu boosters was just a bridge too far. However, my daughter who is vulnerable as is her husband was adamant that it was worth the risk. I read all the posts carefully and decided it was worth it. As PMRPRO and Dorset Lady said, there is nothing else. My daughter said “ mother it’s an outing” I had been sent 3 appointments, the last one suggesting I could go at any time. The set up here is that the 3 practices in the town take over the Community Hospital and you can drop in. When we got there we were met with a steady stream of people literally demonstrating herd immunity. The OH was allowed half an hour between Out of Hours visits to fit his in, so we have all been done. Ok we have all got sore arms and daughter said she feels rough but we are basking in the smug knowledge that we have done our best.

I know with all of on this forum have to contend with it’s not easy however I am glad I was persuaded and I have had an outing

Have a good day

🥂

I went for my diabetic review on 13th September and whilst there was given my first Shingrix vaccination . I mentioned that we were going to Australia early October and would have liked to have the jabs before flying. Wow she arranged it for yesterday by fitting us in to her under 65s jab clinic and said make sure you remind me you need the over 65s jab. She also booked my husband in. We went yesterday and it had been altered to one of the senior partners doing it and he was doing the over 65s. We were very impressed by it all

It really is. They are a good reactive and you can get appointments the same day if needed

My surgery would only give me the Covid with Flu at the same time so I booked with NHS

I vacillated about having them both together but decided to just get on with it, two sore arms but that was all. I am sure you made the right decision for you 🥂

My 87 year old Mum has severe scoliosis and is very frail weighing only 6 stone had hers with the flu vaccine yesterday at 9 am and hobbled home with her new walking stick as she’s afraid of the mobility scooter we bought. Just have to convince her to try the stair lift now 😀

Good for you Edith! Just wondered if you are on steroids at the moment? I am currently on 30 mg of Prednisolone and wondered if it's okay to have the covid jab whilst on those? I've only recently been diagnosed with Polymyolgia but they haven't ruled out GCA yet. Does anyone know please? I have booked my flu appointment and intend to have my covid jab if okay. I will ask my rhematologist for advice but haven't got round to it yet. Thank you in anticipation of a response?

As you are on 30mg then you are immune suppressed-so all the more reason to have the Covid vaccine… and plenty on here have have it whilst on Pred -although maybe not that many on that dose .

Sorry I have replied to you choice and it didn’t send. I have been on steroids for 9 years, down to 5mgs now. Of course you need the jab, the last thing you need is Covid. Good you have the appointment

🥂

Yes, I intend too. I wasn't sure about being on steroids and having the jab, that's all.
