PMRGCAuk Benefits of Membership

Just one of the many benefits of being a member of the PMRGCAuk Charity. A good read with interesting stories and information. Without members the charity wouldn’t be able to do all the great things such as research. All this helps people like me get through the long arduous journey of PMR. Knowing I’m not alone and have the support of the HU forum is invaluable.

Great post, Estellemac! The best thing I did after finding this forum was to become a member which not only entitles me to Newswire but also access to webinars and Zoom meetings. Keep up the good work.🙂

Thankyou Estellemac,

A really good reminder that there most definitely is some excellent help & support out there for those of us with PMR or GCA.

One of the best things I did was to become a paying member of the PMRGCAUK charity and therefore provide myself with access to the information and advice that I've been so grateful for over the past 4½yrs.

I can only urge anyone who hasn't already joined, to do so now. You definitely won't regret it.

I have just reread some of the information on PMRGCAuk and came across this couple of sentences.

“It will take some people about 2 years to come off steroids, but we know that for others it will be longer. Research shows that 25% of people with PMR will still be on steroids after 4 years.”

Is there really only 25% of us longer than 4 years ?

I thought the median was 5.9 years

Was in the myth busting article? I can’t comment on stats but I think it was based on the latest research. I do know a lot of my group are through the other side and off steroids but wouldn’t say it’s gone altogether.
