woke at midnight itching all over. Head face everywhere. Assumed allergic reaction but diff to see what from. Sausage at lunchtime? New nail varnish with pedicure?!? Couldn’t possibly be just adrenals!? Could it! On 4th day of 3mgs pred after a month of alternate days 4 and 3.took a piriton and half tamazapam and did get some hours sleep. Just been dozing this morning. Must get up!!! Any comments?!?

Several people have found that they apparently develop allergies as they get to lower doses of pred. Maybe that is the problem. There is some suggestion that poor adrenal function may result in allergies as cortisol is instrumental in managing such responses - and you are in the no-man's-land between pred doing the job and enough cortisol to do it as it should.

I had developed an allergy to wheat starch at the same time as PMR which higher doses of pred calmed down. As I got to lower doses of pred it returned, not as badly though and I could eat small amounts of wheat but not a lot. Now I am on Actemra it seems to be gone even at 5mg pred. But antihistamines helped me a lot taken regularly, not just when it happened.

See GP for antihistamine and betnovate?

Or just try some benadryl over the counter

No sign of itching since that one time! Very odd!
