Pain in PMR

Do you always get hip pain with this?

I have had neck/shoulders/top of spine/upper chest aches for years which is peaking at the minute.

I have had Crohns for 40 years. My ESR was only 2 when I asked my GP to test in march, although not sure if they did the CRP as well.

I just had an ablation for AF which used to come on prior to an attack of the pain.

I also suffer from fatigue at varying levels

Still looking for a solution but get sick of badgering the gp's (its been going on for 13 years)

By no means - can be hips, or shoulders, or both. Some wouldn't even really complain about either but other things fit the bill.

Is it muscles or joints? Crohns can be associated with a form of inflammatory arthritis.

Look at 4, Comorbid pain.

I dont know, but I get pain if I twist my torso and there is some pain when I press the vertebrae in the middle of my shoulder blades. Also if I lie flat then breathe in deeply my sternum hurts. I have some curvature of the spine so the GP is sending me for Physio although tried this 10 years ago.

I know these are vague symptoms but the fatigue is getting bad and if I do any work or lifting then it makes me feel worse.

I think this really started in 1996 and they put it down to post viral fatigue, but I had a bad Crohns attack and was on Prednisolone for 6 months and inuran for many years and wasnt troubled by this problem till 2010.

I know you can get ankylosing spondylitis with CD but thats in the lower back I thought.

Thanks for your reply

Interesting link - Crohns pain is awful and I having a little flare now, but it combines with a whole body sickness that is different to the back pain. I have never ever been given any pain relief for CD as it doesn't often work.

Getting the doctors to join up the dots is difficult

Not AS, but this sounds very much as you are describing.

AS typically develops in the lower back first but can spread upwards

is a really good set of articles.

Update - been to the Physio and she insists its not related to the Crohns as they would flare up at the same time. She says my x rays are clear for inflammation

I have spondylosis in may upper back.

I have just tried one of the exercises, lying down on the floor and lifting your arms up. It has really made the condition worse so wont be trying that again.

Do you always get hip pain with this?

No. None. Ever. It's a kink of my PMR that my hips were paralysed but totally pain-free. Plenty of pain elsewhere!
