Need advice

Need some advice please. Admitted to hospital middle last week after heart attack. Have been stable on 6.5 mg Pred for 6 weeks but obviously do not intend to taper any more at present. Still in hospital awaiting a stent. Have been put on all sorts medication including blood pressure pills, Beta blockers, Lansopramide ,aspirin and other blood thinners . ( sorry not yet caught up with all the names of my pills yet) . Not getting any exercise as such right now. Bit achey round neck and shoulders today but not sure whether PMR, side effects of new medication or the effects of lack of exercise. Have insisted on handling my own steroids whilst here. Don’t really want to add anything unless necessary . I can usually recognise PMR pain but this has me a bit confused…

Sorry to hear your news -but glad you are being treated -and good luck with stent…

Would say with all the stress of what’s gone on it would be very unlikely if you didn’t have some PMR reaction.

Plus your adrenals are probably thinking “flipping heck we need to do something “… so you may finds that an extra 1mg might help…even though you are a bit reticent to increase.

You have, and will continue to have a lot to get your head around -so don’t let PMR misbehave on top of everything else.

Best wishes 🌸

Oh hard luck - been quite few MIs recently.

You say you are looking for advice - what in particular? The achy shoulders COULD be the bed and not sleeping well and all that goes on in hospital.

Exactly… that is what I was thinking. Not sleeping at all well and the bed certainly uncomfortable…. Just need to get some exercise but walking up and down the corridor is all that s permitted at present……..☹️

I defy ANYONE to sleep in a hospital!!! Unless you are lucky enough to have a room on your own which occasionally happens here since there are only 3 to a room usually.

So sorry to hear about the heart attack, glad you are in safe hands. Hospital beds are horrendous, no wonder your body is protesting. I would allow my system to settle before tinkering with my Pred dose, unless a wise doctor explains to me differently. 🌺

Hi

I had HA 4 years ago

spent 10 days in hospitals waiting to go to mainland hospital for Angiogram s our Island hospital doesn't do them .

Did not need angioplasty but on usual meds .

Atorvastatin

Omeprazole

Aspirin

Bisoprolol

Losartan

Sorry cant remember what Steroids I was on but know I did not have to increase .

I must say looking back i was lucky as bed was very comfortable I did feel very tired the first few days. After that just walked along the corridors on the unit several times a day.

Advice on discharge is a slow walk for ten minutes a day slowly building up to 30 min a day.

If you are offered rehab do go s it helps build your confidence

Good Luck
