Bruising reduction.

Have extensive dark bruising esp on legs. Am moisturizing arms and legs and just ordered arnica cream. Can I expect a reduction in this awful bruising steroid side effect as I taper down from medrol?? Am currently at 18,5 mgs. Thx.

My bruising disappeared about 8mg pred, which is about 7mg medrol, and I'm also on anticoagulant medication. But everyone is different - some people have to get quite low.

Mine was on my shins above my ankles - wonderful things long trousers!!!

I do hope the bruising will decline.

Yes I agree, the backs of my legs where puppy jumps up as I walk, a real mess, have nearly trained her not too, but those little claws are so sharp! Long pants are a life saver! I'm down tov9.5mg and very happy to say feeling much bettercthe last 2 days.

That’s good to hear.

My legs are quite bad on 7 mg. Have started tanning them to hide the bruises a bit, which it does. 💐

Interesting. Hoping arnica helps, and covering them up. Have not tried tanning.

Prednisone thins your skin and I find I only need to scratch my hands lightly and am covered in bruises. Never happened before I started on prednisone.

I’m on 4.5 and the bruising hasn’t improved.

The prevalent discolouration they leave seems to be permanent I’m sorry to say.

I find the discolouration is finally fading - but it has taken over a year in come cases.

Sadly, even on 2mg…reducing to 1.5, I get bruises very easily on arms & shins.:-((

Guess our skin is permanently thinned😕

I kept getting terrible wounds on my legs; the wound doc recommended taking Vit A. I did this for many months and it definitely improved.

Still can bruise but skin doesn’t rip.

Now take a multi with Vit A.

OMG. That was severe. Glad the A helped.

Unfortunately I have been off prednisone for 6 months, now on actemra infusions, and still getting bruising. Hopefully you will fare better. I have used the arnica cream off & on for over a year and think it does help the bruising heal faster. Good luck!

I am on 6mg of pred and currently have very bad bruising on my shins. Arnica works very well for me. As soon as l notice a bruise l use the cream and take the 30 arnica pills. It really helps a lot.
