Is codeine ok with prednisolone.

Foolishly went mad digging garden couple of weeks ago and upset my back....past slipped disc. Seeing pysio and doing all the right things and keeping pain killers to a minimum as even the paracetamol make me feel strange, light headed and upset digestive system. I am on omeprazole. Would codeine be a good alternative?

As long as you don't allow yourself to get constipated!

Thanks Pro. Liquorice organic tea bags are of great assistance to keeping it at bay...used occasionally when necessary 🤫.Today I stuck with paracetamol capsules because as usual, I have other 'bits going wrong' and last night I had bad reflux, wind etc so I suspect some of the light head feeling is to do with this. Still not resolved what the ??? infestation or infection was ???

Might have to see a private specialist .. gastrology?.. on that one. As I said previously my doctor has had everything possible checked.

Btw the friends in motor home I mentioned are heading next from lake Konstanz area to site I told them about...Natters, thanks for comments on area.

A yes, Natters and Mutters and Havers and Blethers ... But it helps to be a Scot to get that :)

Ok. I was born very close to the border but not quite in Scotland!

We passed the turn to Natters and Mutters on the way south to Italy but never went up there! One of the group christened it N&M&H&B - and so it has remained!

Not too much of the liquorice tea - see this from FAQs-

Thanks DL. I had read some of this a long while back and use it very occasionally and sparingly. I also eat (again, very occasionally) liquorice soft pieces which are in fact aniseed flavoured.

Okay, so long as you are aware..

Yup Co-Codamol works well with me, but beware the liquorice with the Pred.

I'm currently on 15mg prednisolone - it's been a bit of an up and down journey for me due to having to taper very fast for a major operation so back up from 10mg for a while. That helps with the PMR pain but doesn't touch the bursitis in my left hip which seems to flare at night when I get into bed. Paracetamol doesn't touch it, co-codamol does but think I might have to resort soon to the lactulose and senna that were given to me at the hospital! I was also given 2 packs of tramadol but find that gives me too much of a hangover the next day.

I had a phone catch up with a rheumatology nurse yesterday and mentioned the bursitis. The rheumatologist had recommended a cortisone injection when I met him in January but nothing happened (possibly because I got put on a cancer pathway when something else cropped up) so she's now going to get him to refer me for the injection. Hope it works!
