Has my PMR changed?

Hi All

Have been treated for PMR by Dr Hughes -have had op on right knee meniscus tear repair and removal of bone spur and consultant said there was def something inflammatory going on.Am awaiting biopsy results. Was told it could take 3 months for my knee to settle down.Am in a lot of pain and knee feels v stiff still.Physio seems surprised after 4 weeks that I still have pain Have deep ache in operated leg thigh and ankle stiffness .My other knee is also tender lateral side and have complex tear, mild arthritis, low volume fluid shown on MRI

PMR wise I thought I was doing well on 2 mg Pred ,no morning stiffness ,mild ache in left arm which hasn’t changed and thought my knees were a separate issue. My CRP is 8 ESR 21 -a year ago on 5 mg Pred CRP was 16/ESR 36-

Can PMR affect knees ?Could my ankle stiffness be something else?

Am so depressed at moment maybe need to go back to Rheumy?

PMR can affect knees, yes.

academic.oup.com/rheumatolo...

I had knee pain early days - the first rheumy informed me I had OA in my knees. That was some 17 years ago. After getting pred it improved. About 13 years later I had similar pain again - but the x-ray done here (none done originally) showed no sign of OA at all.

PMR can affect knees.. and the ankle may be related to issue with knee.. and an extra 1mg or even 0.5mg might make a difference.

Knees, hips and shoulders for me when 1st diagnosed. I would be tempted to go DL suggestion and see if there is any difference. PMR seems to be adept as assuming different disguises.

My knee hurt for a month for no reason, was one of things that made me go "Hmmm, this is new for my pains" and also led me to believe more in a possible PMR diagnosis..so the answer is yes
