Hi.just wondering when you get to half of steroids,and when I been taking for a month do you just come of them.taking.am taking 10mgs leflunomide,been on them since August 2022.am doing well moment,only get a few headaches and aches and pains,but if I do I take paracetamol they seem to help.l have been off work for 2months not thought of mined,iwas made redundant,just wondering if I should go back to work.sometimes feel like I want to and other times not.i am 66 yes old.help would be of help.

Your choice whether to go back to work….we can’t make it for you…depends whether you need to for financial reason [obviously no need to say on here] - or just want to for company, or something to keep you occupied.

Write down a list of pros and cons, and make your decision…and good luck whatever you decide.

Golly, steady on. At least enjoy being off Pred for a while and make an assessment about how you feel. I have heard that it can take a year to feel fully normal with the recovery of the Adrenal system etc. you could always try a bit of voluntary work, following one of your interests. I supported witnesses in Crown Court for a few years, it was fulfilling and fascinating. I hope it all goes well for you, you are in an enviable position. DL has answered the main part of your concerns, so I won’t go there. 🌸

I occasionally think I'd quite like a bit of paid work to get me out amongst people but I know that physically I know I couldn't do the sort of things that are on offer here to someone without the requisite bits of paper! No-one wants translators any more - we cost, google is free. Mercifully, online translating programmes are a lot better than they were!

But do I really want to go back to work? Not really - haven't got the time!

My doctor would say your adrenals are not affected after such a short time on steroids.

Flosy has been on pred since 2020 and started at 50mg for GCA. That is plenty of time for adrenals to be affected, especially with starting at a high dose. It is only leflunomide that was introduced last summer.

Even a month [as quoted in question, although maybe a bit misleading] is long enough to be an issue to stop immediately...but you need to be aware of the full story.
