heavy cold. Extra pred?

Hi. I have a heavy cold and feeling rather drained. Should I take extra pred or just see how it goes? Thanks

If it’s just the cold then paracetamol and plenty of TLC may be enough - you only really want to up the Pred if you think you are flaring.

What dose are you on now? -might be adrenals struggling as much as anything else.

4.5 and rheumatology said my adrenals are slightly insufficient . Thanks. Will stick to my 4.5

Yes they probably will be at that dose -do need gently nudging -very small steps -and probably no reducing for a while…Winter’s not good for tapering even if you don’t have the added extras of dealing with a cold..,

If they are only "slightly" insufficient at 4.5mg oral pred you are doing well!

are you on methotrexate. If so hold off until you’re better. Otherwise stay at same pred unless you go more poorly and if you go on antibiotics follow the sick day rules. You can increase to 10mg for up to 2weeks and drop back to your taper at4.5mg. See how you go. Look after yourself xx
