Hi all, for those of you who use Patient Access and the NHS App you can now link the two together and use your NHS App login for both Apps. If nothing else I guess it's one less login and password to remember.

It has sort of worked for me for a while I thought, except with patient I will always get in, but with the NHS app I sometimes get a message that my surgery cannot be connected to. The NHS app sometimes has more info than the patient one, but both are pretty limited in the detail I think.

I still have mine side by side - sometimes, l stress only sometimes l can pick up my blood results quicker on the NHS App

You doing OK Peter?

Sent you PM. I have both and yes, sometimes results come up a lot quicker on one than the other.

I can’t view consultants letters or MRI etc reports even though my surgery says I should be able to. I don’t always get a copy and it would be useful to see what they think or even if they have reported. My dr doesn’t always get a letter.

I may be wrong, but I think the information you can access (except for Covid vaccines which are done centrally) is input by GPs surgery -so if they don’t get info/reports from hospital it’s not on your records.

There was a brilliant idea a few years ago to get hospital/GPs records onto one system -I can remember filling in a questionnaire-but it’s was all too difficult/expensive!

But you can request info direct from hospital-although that seems to be a bit hit and miss at time!

I'm not sure how the system works, but I've noticed that hospital appointments and things usually appear on my NHS app and not necessarily on PA. My 5th Covid jab is on the NHS app but not PA. Think they need to get their heads together a bit more.

I've just checked my NHS App, had a x-ray appointment this morning requested by Orthopaedic team (and received letter by email) - but no record of it ---so as I said bit hit & miss.

Covid vaccines appear on both (although our GP surgery now uses a different App to PA). All a bit unsatisfactory really....🙄

Do you get reminders by text? I was fooled when I expected a reminder for an appointment - but you only get them when you have made the appointment at the central computer. When it is a follow-up and made in the department - no reminder!

Get original appointment from hospital by email (with invitation letter as attachment) and then reminder by text.. couple of says before..

.. from GP confirmation of appointment immediately made (whether in person or over phone) and reminder, both by text couple of days before..

Covid vaccine ( when booked centrally) confirmation & reminder by text...

Yes, we get one immediately and one a week before - long enough ahead to forget again ...

I find it very confusing, and spend ages getting batted back and forth between NHS and Patient Access and my Medical Centre and being refused by all of them a number of times before I can get in. It's useful to be able to order prescription repeats and even make doctor appointments online, but seems a bit chaotic. Hope it's simplified.

I have been tearing my hair out with all of this. My GP side is not too bad and I can pickup most things on PA that has to do with the GP.

But as I’m under several different departments at the hospital all asking for blood and other tests. I have been asking for the results to be sent to same. “What do you want that for” is their response 😫.

I even went to PALS at the hospital but was told our trust doesn’t do that. But why when is a patients right to have it. Sorry you’ve started me on a rant.
