It's done. It was fairly quick but a bit emotional. Steroids I suspect but the needle going into the front near my nose.......WOW even after I had some happy gas, it was still pretty awful. I was shaking and I felt like my heart was pounding 90 miles an hour! It also brought up a few memories of my childhood. Lots of dental work, due to bad teeth. My mother had a calcium deficiency when she was pregnant with me so I had awful teeth. I did have a good memory though, after the appointment, my mom always brought me out for a chocolate malt, since I couldn't eat anything afterwards. The memory made me cry. Again, probably the steroids. I'm doing ok now just a slight amount of pain near the infection and it appears it has moved into the other side. I'm to continue taking the antibiotic til gone, Monday. Then see how it goes. If all is good and no problems I won't see the endodontist for 6 months. I do need to see my regular dentist for a permanent repair to the crown before 30days is up. I did go up to 11 mg yesterday and plan to stay there for a few days and go back to 10.5 mg and see how it goes. Thank for listening and being there!

Sounds like it all went as well as hoped for, even with the worrying moments. Don't remember ever getting any treats after the dentist whatever was done, though. 😓

Well done! I'm on the waiting list for an extraction at the hospital, as my own dentist doesn't want to do it himself - that has made me more nervous than ever. Like you, it'll be over when it's done!

Because he thinks, quote: "It will come out in bits"! I'd rather be in the hospital's safe hands than his for this one!
My dentist took a molar out a few weeks ago - because of a fractured root, It came out in bits! He isn't cheap - but he is a very good dentist and, most important, 50m from the hospital front door! When I originally needed a wisdom tooth taken out I asked about dental services at the hospital and was looked at as if I was totally crackers!

It must be a relief now it's done. I had bad teeth too and and sometimes one of my baby would be extracted. The dentist would tell my mum to take me for an icecream afterwards on the grounds that it would help stop any bleeding
Your heart pounding can be due to some adrenaline from the local anaesthetic injection getting into a vein. I've experienced that in the past - not pleasant!
And you can ask for an adrenaline-free LA - I did for years after a dentist told me that was probably what made me unwell! I'd had fillings done without pain relief because of it!

Having the adrenaline version made me unwell - so unwell that I preferred to risk having fillings with no LA! Until a new dentist asked WHY I wouldn't have the LA and she said that was probably the reason - she was right,
Adrenaline is added to constrict the blood vessels around where they are working to reduce bleeding.
I always feel all jittery and wobbly after an anaesthetic jab at the dentist. It makes me feel so weird. And I can remember having gas there as a child. Just before, the lovely nurse told me to think of something nice so I would have a nice dream, but the last thing I saw was a poster of The Wombles on the wall, and I had a terrible nightmare about them chasing me. I woke up screaming 🤣 I have a fab dentist now who is excellent at putting me at ease. I never watched The Wombles again though 🤭
Well done you! I have the same childhood trauma around dentists. The fear is often worse than the procedure except of course the injections which are horrendous. Hope everything settles down now x
Well done, it’s over now and you just need time to heal. I hate having dental treatment and view it as an endurance test. I’m due a large filling next Tuesday and dreading it as I’m currently in a lot of pain after recent shoulder surgery. Take care🌸

Thank you everyone for all your support! I do appreciate all of you. I wouldn't say reality wasn't as bad as anticipated though. I am doing much better today and the swelling is all but gone. Funny thing, my rash on my face around my mouth and nose that has been plaguing me on and off for months, (thought it was due to wearing masks), has pretty much disappeared as well! I even think my sinuses are clearing! Is it the antibiotic? Is it the infection leaving? Both? I don't know but it's nice to have my face back and not have the constant drainage and coughing, always thought it was my allergies.
