Bruise’s and leg pain

I wrote regarding bruises and leg pain, I now have been told by my doctor I have had Phlebitis. She asked me to go to the surgery today for an examination which i have just had.

She said the worst is over and I should elevate my leg for 15 mins when I feel it’s necessary, if at all it swells up and gets red then I should make another appointment to see her.

It has taken a few calls to 111, and my rheumatologist secretary, but got there in the end, many thanks to all of you who had taken the time to reply to my post.👍

Hmm. Phlebitis is a superficial blood clot and in itself not dangerous. However, left untreated it can progress to a DVT. So one feels it should have been taken more seriously ...

Thank you , I did ask her if it could have been a DVT , her reply was oh no you would have had more symptoms .A lot more swelling and tenderness in your groin area, also the veins would have been more bulging.

I was surprised to see her as all our surgery do is telephone appointments. While I was there I though in for a penny in for a pound and asked her to look at the swelling in my neck, she’s going to make be an appointment for a ultra sound scan as she’s amazed it’s been left😱

Trying to show compassion, but seething inside. You are supposed to have two appointments or telephone calls

Not at our surgery, I rang two days on trot the receptionist said fully booked for telephone consultation and face to face.

I went ask my gp yesterday. Without seeing GP I have had a blood test booked and then to make appointment with GP on thec12th. Not sure how I have to do that, whether thru ask my gp or tele con

I have to make my own mtx blood tests now as the surgery no longer ring me when I am due for one, and I am sure they never check them as I have had to ring one or twice with a query, stopped doing that now as I ask the wonderful ladies on this forum who seem to know a lot more than my GP does.

‘amazed it been left’ …. what else would happen when they only do telephones. I am amazed they make such comments and don’t feel guilty

Thank you, there’s not you can do apart from the hospital which I suppose I should have gone, but bank holidays in our hospital are horrendous, and I was looking after m6 little grandson.

No, we should be able to book appointments as and when , not just leave to chance. But what a carry on it is on Ask my GP.

I think GPs are having a better time than the hospital doctors, as when I had to go to see a GP (locum) for a water infection and she would not treat me as the water test was not showing what was wrong the nurses at the hospital nearly blew a casket. They said they are seeing more people because doctors doing want to treat them

My GP wouldn’t give me steroids when she thought I had PMR. Had to wait for Rheumatologist appt 3 months later and he said ‘why didn’t yr GP put you on Pred. GPs today don’t really do anything today other than refer

Too many locums and new GPs without experience.
