I've been persisting with tapering and finally settled at 3mg for the last three months. Yesterday I experienced pain in my right lower leg. Last night awoke with acute pain and not able to move my right leg. This morning I can't walk on this leg and can only drag it. The leg is slightly swollen and feels tender to the touch and not capable of taking any pressure or turning. I'm begining to feel the pain creeping up towards my buttocks. Sitting down, the leg feels as if it is cold but not when I touch it. I haven't knocked it or done any damage. Some months ago, I woke up with the same lower leg covered in bruises and again hadn't knocked it or had an accident. However that time, the leg was not painful and the bruises finally disappeared. Is this connected to PMR? I've called the doctor and have an appointment this afternoon because I'm concerned.
Any thoughts as to what's going on🤔. Thank you for reading.

Gosh, please let us know what this turns out to be. It is no use my guessing. It doesn’t sound like PMR does it? Best wishes, I hope it isn’t serious! 🍀
Thank you SheffieldJane, for responding. Because I live alone, I'm having to be creative. So, now using an old table on wheels to ferry my lunch and walking stick from the kitchen to the lounge. Thank goodness I'm in a bungalow!
Have you anyone you can call upon to help at all? This sounds a bit grim.
Although I admire your ingenuity with your table on wheels, there might be other equipment on line that helps or the GP maybe able to put you in touch with sources of help?
Do let us know how it goes. Make a note of any relevant history in the lead up to this. I always forget.
Re painful leg: Doctor was helpful and diagnosed Phlebitis with blood clot in the vein which accounted for the travelling pain up to the thigh. She advised to keep the leg elevated with warm compress, antibiotics to treat vein infection and paracetamol for pain. Hopefully it should clear in a week. She suggested that the leg problem could have been a aggravated by PMR.
I am glad that you have got a diagnosis and treatment. I was kind of guessing this. My mum had DVT when she was far advanced with Dementia, they didn’t want to operate but hers dispersed on its own. With Homoeopathy from me.
Perhaps Deliveroo or similar could take care of your meals?
This was a few years ago and it’s what I was told at the time. It was clear that the hospital consultant did not want to treat her and this is what she told me. Mum’s calf was red and hard. I was told that the operation would involve going into her artery via her groin.
That's right - they pull the clot out with wires. But OH had a DVT over 20 years ago - successfully treated conservatively, i.e. no "surgery" in the catheter lab.
As I started to read this I was hoping you had arranged to see a doctor - what did they say? My immediate thought is either a DVT or a torn calf muscle.
Thank you for your concern. I've just posted that the doctor diagnosed Phlebitis with a blood clot. Have got medication and hopefully this should improve in a week. DVT was ruled out. Thanks again.
