PAUSING tapering for a wedding

I just wanted to share. My daughter gets married in just over two weeks and I’m about due to do a pred drop. I’m on 5mg on which I’m pretty ok and balanced with sleep fatigue and pain. The LAST thing I need is steroid withdrawal OR a flare OR struggling adrenals in the next month so I’m sticking on 5 mg and I DON’T CARE!!

😂😂listen to me with all the knowledge and tricks! As if 😂😂

Absolutely Do Not Reduce before The Big Day! And wait a few days after to resume your taper…..

It’s a Big Day - not one you get to repeat so the last thing you need is PMR getting into the mix 🥂

Have a Wonderful Day 👰🏻 🤵🏻‍♂️

Don’t forget to take some spare in your handbag……

good plan, and as MrsNails says give yourself time afterwards before you reduce...what's a couple of weeks compared to a family wedding...hope you have a lovely day..

A Top Tip from My Sons Wedding - Pre PMR - have yourself a ‘Right Hand Woman’ who can be a ‘Runner’ for you, Delegate where possible, don’t stress….,

We were hosting the Wedding as the Brides Parents were flying in from Mauritius, we put them up in a lovely cottage, a B&B and they had the whole place to themselves & various members of their family as they arrived, so that helped enormously!

I also had an Emergency Box with Basic First Aid Kit, Nappy Pins, Tights, Sewing Kits, Panty Liners & Tampons, Gaffer Taper, Super Glue, Paracetamol, Rennies, Sunscreen & much more.

I placed it under the cake table & believe me it came in handy!…….

"As if" ....if you regard yourself as an apprentice know that you sure are gaining flying colours 😀.Have a lovely time at the wedding and rest as much as possible during the week before (and after).

I would do that too.

Rod Hughes, superb PMR rheumy in Chertsey, likes to keep patients at 5mg for up to 9 months as he finds it makes the rest of the taper easier. A month (until you have recovered from the excitement) is nothing in the great scheme of things!

Thanks for that. I’ll see how I go then ❤️

Sounds like a plan.

I recently decided to stop tapering and stick to my current dose (at that time) for 19 days while on holiday visiting family for the first time in 10 years. I knew I would be travelling long days to/from (4 flights total, one that got cancelled and caused an extra overnight stay in a connecting city). Best decision ever.

Enjoy the wedding! As others have mentioned, it’s a special occasion and there is no “do over”.

I’ve stopped worrying about reducing and plan to say on 5mg until at least Christmas. Children’s weddings are so special. I wish you a super enjoyable day.

On the subject of weddings, was there any feedback on the surprise wedding ? I think it was in Australia . I would love to know how it went and I may have missed an update.

Have a wonderful day and congratulations! Definitely wise to leave tapering till a while after the wedding.
