Grrrrr! Just a little frustrated as I was responding to another post and had written quite a long response when I inadvertently 'exited' the site. When I returned, everything I'd written had gone.
I've noticed this has happened quite a few times and wondered if I'm just being particularly dim in not finding an option to 'save' what I've written.
Sometimes you have to break off to attend to something else, but it seems if you leave the site then you lose everything you've written if you've not actually posted it. Does this happen to others?
It might be relevant to say I use my phone, not an ipad.

Yes, happens to me all the time, also I’m pretty good at trying to edit my posts and managing to delete them by mistake. Others suggested “the copy and paste” option or emailing my reply to myself first etc but I forget!
Hi, frustrating isn’t it…..and no it’s not just you, nor the device you’re on …unfortunately there is no save option. ..and it all to easy to leave the page. If you go to shut the tab you should get a reminder you may loose your work but not if leave accidentally. Another shortfall on HU’s behalf!
If you are going to write a length reply, then draft it in word or notes or whatever…then you can copy & paste…
How about the ability to leave recorded voice messages similar to using what’s app voice message (not that I know how to do that only that it can be done) that way there would also be less room for misinterpretation of tone etc
Oh no!!!!!! I do see your point - but I read every post, I can read them far faster than listening to the same text. I always look at the transcripts of discussions online if there is one.
Happens on a computer too! I keep multiple tabs open but occasionally i forget I can't leave the page without losing what has been written - sometimes there is a warning so you can change your mind but it is a feature of the HU site I fear. You could post your reply prematurely - that effectively saves it to come back to and edit. On the computer I can use copy and paste to save it briefly - as long as you don't want to copy anything else! And of course I could always open Word to do it - but that is a pain!
Thanks Pro.Haha! Like stillsdisease said.... it's always when you've spent ages carefully thinking out the long reply you've composed and then in one accidental click...it's gone.😂
It's maddening, and your posts are so well thought through Kendrew. I doubt I would remember what I had put if it were me but I bet your brain is more efficient!
Yes Kendrew. Did it recently and swore. My reworked post was shorter. I now prepare a longish reply in word if important. Gives me a chance to reconsider it
That has happened to me loads of times, even if I accidentally touch my screen. That’s why all my posts are half baked and lacking in literacy. 😄It’s always the ones you have put a lot of thought into and you are pleased with that disappear.I am also finding it tricky to go back to see people’s old posts to understand their history better. This used to be easy.
I tap on the poster’s name and get a list of their previous posts then it seems hit and miss to open an old one. I have managed eventually. This has happened a couple of times. I was wondering if the formatting had changed or something. We are probably more thorough than other HU sites. Being total stars, excluding self of course.5 years cripes!
It may well be, HU have changed the “post” set up recently -causing all sorts of issues. But when you tap poster’s name it takes you to profile -which is what I did to get yours - dunno!
It seems to happen to me if I am using my iPad and I happen to knock my hand to the right hand side of the page. Of course it only happens when I lift my hand up to hit the reply button when the whole post is completed. It is so frustrating and there is absolutely NOTHING you can do about it, except scream.
If I want to leave the site for a few minutes I'll copy the text so when I return I can simply paste it into the field. If your on a window computer simply highlight the text and then press ctrl and C at the same time. When you return click inside the empty field and click ctrl and P at the same time. You can also copy and paste text on your mobile device.
What I’ve had happen, which is a bit different, is I’ll be typing and then all of a sudden I’m in a new response window. But, I’ve discovered that if I scroll upward (swipe downward) and can find my reply and continue. It’s a bit aggravating as the site should force your cursor within the box until you tap Reply. That’s the problem with canned programs, you’re stuck with what you get.
....I think the culprit is somewhere on the lower left of my keyboard~! I'm not sure, but poof! there goes the post. I'll let you know when I find it...🕵🏻♀️💕
Haha 😄.....I get so annoyed with myself because I always do it accidentally and after 2yrs on the forum, you'd think I'd have learnt to be more careful!
