This is a little out there, but I feel so comfortable with you all I thought I'd share. It's a poem about vasculitis. I've got some poetry out there, but this is the first one I've written about LVV.
Diagnosis
I saw the angel
All dressed in black
Sexy lingerie
Purple lipstick
She
Was going to take me somewhere
I resisted
She promised
She would turn
Into Taylor Swift
At the end of the tunnel
At the end of the blackness
Just close your eyes
Just lick your lips
Just click your heels
Fairy tale princess …
The words in my mouth
Stop …
All this pain
All this distraction
All this coming together
And breaking apart

I agree. Creativity can really take us out of ourselves - it's satisfying and calms the mind. I've been making Birthday cards to send to friends- not very professional ones 😏 but appreciated by the recipients. I haven't seen Bob Ross but will definitely get to that.I've also completed a couple of social history courses run by 'Future Learn' - free, no need for previous knowledge, no age limit and no pressure on the learner.
My sister has amazed us all, and herself...cards, jewellery, made all the Christmas decs, she has RA, lives alone, but is so busy, and contented....me, not a creative bone in my body.....
Your sister sounds wonderful. I'm afraid some of my efforts are pretty far away from top notch but that doesn't matter. I was making and decorating celebration cakes until a few years ago-wedding, Birthday, new baby, but standing for long periods now is a no-no.I'm really inspired by posts here-thank you. I'll be rolling up my sleeves this week. 😀
Hello 123-go, if you are struggling to stand, have you tried a perching stool? I have a gas powered bar stool and wouldn't be without it. I can put it to whatever height is suitable for what I am doing. Kind regards Jannie x.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. I don't actually struggle to stand but I find sitting to decorate cakes awkward. It's a bit difficult to explain that but if you can imagine it, I prefer to be 'over' the cake rather than in front of it and sitting without a knee hole under the work top is uncomfortable. My friend who has MS has one of the stools you describe and finds it invaluable. There are lots of aids for so many things these days: we're very fortunate.
Another tip, if you can sit by a cupboard just open the doors to get your knees under, that's how I wash up but I realise this may not help in your circumstances. Kind regards Jannie x
That's a really good tip but I'd have to take a shelf out along with the clutter 😆. (No clutter to be honest. Being in lockdown has done wonders in terms of tidying). Thank you so much for your brilliant suggestions. x
I used to watch BR - I found him mesmerising to watch. He makes you feel soo peaceful. My son bought me a master class day (based on BR) at our local art studio but unfortunately was never well enough to use it. Enjoy your therapy!
It packs a lot of complicated emotion into a pared-to-the-bone poem. Have you written anything in haiku form? It's good to share, we can all learn from each other, see new ideas and encourage creativity - it's hard enough to live with our condition(s) and the uncertainty of the world out there.
