If you're interested... I've written a new "rant." To find it, just Google, rantings of a madwoman blog, and choose the appropriate link.
Please, please, please do not google the site, read the blog and then complain to HU that you were "distressed" by it's content. That is be so unfair. Thanks, M
Hope today is easier for you, we are get frustrated with our situations and try to walk before we can run....literally.....and love the Pink Floyd choice..........OH will have comfortably numb at his funeral!!
Well, it wouldn't be you if there hadn't been some trauma but you've had the surgery and now, things can only get better. Major surgery is a major trauma so be super kind to yourself and do as nursey says.
Pain, pain, go away...come again another day (when you’re armed with a heavy duty narcotic). Sorry that your recovery started off with a “bump” literally. Hoping you get some relief and things go more smoothly here on in.
As I said to you on your other post , my Uncle has had two knees done , first was a breeze , second alot of pain , and he didn't have the added Hell of PMR!
You sound about as lucky as me , although at least you managed to stay on your chair.
With my dizziness at the moment I would have toppled off that thing like a demolished skyscraper and added public humiliation to the pain.
I keep wondering whether I should just give in and just bungee cord a load of pillows to my limbs and body , then put one round my head in a U Bend and secure it with my fluffy ear muffs and save the effort of trying to coordinate at all.
Perhaps you could do it too , it might break the sick bed monotony and we could be like walking Michelin Dolls together .
It could be the new en trend fashion look for sufferers of PMR in 2019 , and I bet it will work perfectly with that Chanel lipstick!😂😂😂😋
Take care , let's hope your recovery becomes a little easier soon , Bee x
Love the photo - just sums up how you are feeling. Have they indicated how long the pain usually lasts? xxx
Hope you are ok Mel! Had a similar experience after my hip op! Major anesthetic plus self administered morphine after! Some wild dreams I had for a couple of days!
Discharge 4th day, back up & running on Dihydrocodeine! 5th day Mr impatient goes for lone walk & slips on his arse on the wet grass!! Oh no!! My hip!!!
But I got away with it somehow! Just the red face & muddied back as I hobbled home through the village! Phew!! ATB
Dear Melissa - even without the awful footstool incident this of course would be a very traumatic and painful ordeal and i can't understand WHY effective painkillers cannot be use at critical points- or else WHAT are they for !!?? The whole debacle about misuse and long term addiction seems to overtaken the rational use of opiates - ie when they really required. You are clearly not a 'whimp' - watching your own 'op'and we are aware of how courageous you have been in many 'difficult' circumstances - so it is NUTS you didn't have what you needed at the outset. We are talking about short-term use only and medicos can prescribe sequentially if they wish and pain relief also of course facilitates being able to do initial exercises etc
So sorry you've had this horrid experience - it is a lesson to all of us that we need to know and to talk about what 'effective' pain relief will be available following such ops. Pain IS (also) a 'medical condition' and can express as well as create huge stresses physically and mentally !!!
Feeling VERY annoyed for you Melissa - I don't believe in 'torture' !!!!
What link? I just want to hug that little girl. I get choked up in Supermarkets if children are crying and nobody is being nice to them. Found it sorry!
Hi Jen, thank you and no worries. Just so you know, it's not on Facebook. WordPress is a management system used to create websites and blogs. It is where i create my rants and people can access them directly... 👍🏻
Oh my, I felt your pain. Hope you are slowly improving and try not to get frustrated as you have your eye ops soon. Everything is slowly being dealt with - not negative but on your way to full recovery - well that’s what I tell myself anyway, after cold, chest infection, cataract op postponed then cataract op, then nerve damage in foot, then new nerve damage in other leg , then shingles, then arranging for other cataract op!! We are just working towards!! Loved the application of lipstick. Yes I do the same!! Gives you a lift doesn’t it!!
OOH Melissa! I oohed and aahed when reading your knee rant.I can't believe how many folk go home so soon after surgery. I know a bed is needed, but still.............it's SORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear by Co-Codamol. It's all that gets me through the day with 24/7 backache.....and some Morphine when something stronger needed.Laughed when you say the lippie still went on! Hope the 'room service' is good at home? x
