Is there any definitive information about the necessity or requirement to wear a bracelet or tag showing that I am on Prednisolone ?

If I should, what is the minimum information it should contain

Thank you in advance for your advice

It is very sensible to wear a bracelet or tag in case you are in an accident or unconscious and unable to communicate with medical staff as well as carrying emergency steroid card. It’s easier to look at wrist or around neck than through pockets for card -see this link re card -

The minimum information is to say you are on steroids. You can get bracelets and necklaces with that engraved onto them. You can get more info too, but at least they should know you are on steroids.

I ordered one today which says simply 'Prednisalone since March 2020'. I think that's all they need in the first few minutes, and I don't want to have excess info on display!

I'm a bit slow but I have finally got a Medi alert bracelet which says I am steroid dependent . It's only been five years! We don't have steroid cards in Oz. My question is should I bother with it as I am down to three and a half mgs pred a day?

Yes -your adrenals are probably not up to speed yet, and may not be for some time after you’ve come off Pred. It is recommended you carry card for about a year after stopping Pred- and I wore my bracelet for about same time.

I have a bracelet. I also have my mobile phone in a case with little pockets which I keep my blue and red steroid cards in. I’m sure that would be the first thing emergency services would look for to contact your next of kin.

I wear a 'rubber' bracelet with 'adrenal insufficiency' on it, very cheap online purchase. In hospital for major op just recently, it was always noted.

Sounds like you just missed something that was posted just a couple of days ago. Lots of responses. It was called "Steroid Emergency Card," and was started by Charlie1boy. Be sure to check it out (and the FAQs as well).

I just got my bracelet from Amazon. Engraved on both sides with name of disease, treatment (though not doses as they change) my social security number and blood group, and on the reverse contact numbers for doctor and family. I think it's a useful precaution and not overly expensive (less than 20 euros) considering the time I'm likely to be on Pred (only started in March 2022).

Medical bracelet mentioning Prednisone and GCA with contact information and blood group
