Hello all. I just wondered if Pred/AA/Omeprazole has made anymore vulnerable to getting heat rash?
We are venturing abroad next week for the first time pre-pandemic. In the past I’ve suffered a slight bit of heat rash, but since I’ve been on the Pred etc I’m just wondering if it makes one more vulnerable to prickly heat.
I’m wondering whether it would be prudent to get some antihistamines just in case.
Any tips would be hugely appreciated.

Do cover up! Pred makes the skin thinner and much less able to withstand heat and UV. You are also less able to get away with slapping on some factor 30 and forgetting to reapply until hours later. There is a rash associated with Omperazole but that’s different but can look like really really bad hives plus it would not just be where the sun hit.
Loose flowing clothes are the order of the day. We seem shockingly more vulnerable to sun burn, which worries me more. You could pack antihistamines in your little emergency first aid kit. Do you mean prickly heat, where tiny bubble blisters come up? Something to do with sweat getting trapped. Keep cool and hydrated. I have found that pharmacies in the countries I go to have marvellous remedies for things that can happen there. They seem more effective than our watered down stuff. I hope you have a lovely time.
I would also suggest getting a good insect repellent - there have been a couple suggested on a recent thread. I got a bunch of insect bites last weekend, and they are STILL large and purple and have been very itchy! I'm assuming the pred (or TCZ?) makes them slower to heal. Bon voyage!
I don't know the answer to your question but I can tell you that I used to suffer really badly with prickly heat when I used to go abroad with my husband. On one particular occasion when returning from Barbados absolutely covered in prickly heat my GP prescribed prednisilone for a week tapering every other day and it worked. Obviously not the sort of doses we are all taking though! Have a lovely holiday.
