Extra pred smidge ok?

I felt so unbelievably good this morning that I forgot to take my 12.5 mg of prednisone. I have just come back from a two day trip that was fairly hectic. Any harm (or good) in taking an extra milligram or a half milligram now on top of the 12.5? I am five hours late taking the regular dose.

If it were me I personally would just take the regular dose a bit late.

Thanks. That’s what I’ve just done - five hours late - but I am so afraid of feeling bad again that I am eyeing my pill bottles...

If it was I would take your next dose at the time you normally take it to get back into the rhythm.

I once did just the same as you did when I was on 20mg for GCA forgot to take the dose and afterwards bought a small dosset box with a timer. If fit into my pocket or handbag and I only used it when I was not in my normal routine.

I will take regular dose in about 18 hours, but still wonder about adding on half mg or so now - 5 hours late along with today’s regular dose (which I just took). I like the idea of a box with a timer! Will look for one.

No point in adding an extra half mg…..you’ve taken full amount which will be fine.

You really shouldn't need it - loads of people take their pred late and it still does the job. One would hope you are still well above the lowest effective dose.

Thanks. This was probably a no brainer question for all! I will move on with my life.... 👍😜

You just needed some reassurance, nothing wrong with that. Pred, thankfully, isn't one of those meds which must be taken according to a very rigid schedule with little wriggle room. Just as well, considering there are probably very few of us who haven't forgotten to take pred at least once or taken too much or too little by mistake. :D

Thanks, yes. Reassurance is invaluable!

Why? You do always worry - and there are drugs that matter one way or the other. Pred is quite forgiving really. It happens to everyone - and you wonder. If you ask, you know.

Thanks, interesting. I hadn’t viewed prednisone as forgiving. I’ve kind of looked at it as an enemy, but I will recast that in my mind. :-)
