Due to a mix up with me placing a repeat prescription and probably not being specific enough, I’ve ended up taking 4mg of Pred daily instead of 8mg, for the last week. Tell tale aches alerted me, and I’ve sorted it out (not without some resentment on my part) but should I up my dose for a few days to make up for the shortfall, or just carry on taking the 8mg as normal and hope for the best? The annoying thing is, I had just started the dead slow method of reducing!
Thanks all, your advice, as always, is much appreciated.

I don’t know the answer to this exactly, but my feeling would be to go back up to 8mg and stay there for a few weeks to make sure you’re stable before you re-start your taper.
If you do get pains for more than a few days on 8mg, then I’d add 5mg for a few days, then drop straight back to 8mg and repeat as above.
What a nuisance for you! I hope it goes well from now on 😊
I would see if the 8mg is enough first - the effect of pred only lasts for that day and maybe the 8mg will be enough. Though I suppose if you had been reducing and flared we would have said take 5mg more for a few days - but I would try 8mg first.
Hello Brain, reducing by half is substantial, whether going to 8 will work? Personally I’d go to 10 for 3 days then back to 8. Belt & braces. Hope you feel better soon.
