For one week I have been taking half my dose of 15mg pred (7&1/2mg ) between 10-11pm. Then I take the other half at around 1pm. Mornings are so much better and I am sleeping 1 extra hour a night. I am able to get up and actually make my bed before needing to sit down for about 20 minutes. I still have some pain but the 15mg is making me way too jittery and the sweat just pours off of me. That in and of itself makes me feel lousy. I am going to start tapering by 1/2 mg tomorrow. Stay on that for a week and see how it goes. I have only been on the 15 mg. for 2 weeks so I think that will be ok.

Wow! That’s amazing. I am trying to get to 10mgs and don’t think I could cut that in half. 10 is where I bump into more trouble. Oh and I relate to the 😓 sweating. It is funny it seems my head and neck sweat the worst. I sleep really well in fact I think I sleep in too late every day. But then I FIGURE if I can sleep I should 😴.
I have unbelievable non-stop sweats, then come over very drained and achey…...this after nearly 7 years....when I ask myself will it stop!......must stop moaning!.....
I'm trying splitting my dose too but haven't got the timing of the second dose right yet. The fact you've been successful gives me confidence to persevere. Thanks for putting this up, it's so helpful to hear what works.
For me, daytime pain ceased when I split 60:40 at 8 am and 8 pm (20 mg pred). Timing was much less important than a decent dose in the evening. Later, at 10 mg pred, I was 40:60.
I have been PMR symptom-free since Christmas and, now at 7 mg, I am trying to phase out the evening dose entirely.
