Covid, severe arythymia, hypoglycaemia, Low cortisone ??? NOW SEEM TO BE RUNNING ALOW GRADE / HAVING A FLARE FEVER

Hi all UPDATE:

I have felt quite poorly since yesterday afternoon again - feel like I have a low grade fever (but I have a very low body temp naturally - Hypothyroidism - and so doctors always say it’s ok)

I feel inflamed all over. Did wonder if I was having a flare - there are some tell tale signs - the flesh in the back of my thighs pains plus a bit achy all over and twinges in muscles. I never really had the normal PMR symptoms.

Stomach also burning. Flushed face. Get up to make breakfast - heart races.

Eat - heart races

Having difficulty swallowing food - it doesn’t seem to want to go down.

I’ve been on 7mg Pred for about 4 days now - shall I go to 10mg - If so for how long and then how to taper. The psoriasis getting worse as is the Mast Cell Activation.

I feel worried that this could be something else - some underlying infection. I felt like this when I had an infected gall bladder that had to be removed. Suffered for weeks - but because I didn’t have the normal pain or high fever - it was a bit baffling to the doctors until a scan was done.

Don’t want to mess around with my Pred and cause more problems with adrenals or lower my immune system more - but should I just go up. Doc is asking for a 09:00 cortisol blood test. Will upping my Pred affect the results

Not much faith in the medical establishment - to not just get fobbed off.

Sorry to whine but feel a bit vulnerable and at a loss as to what to do.

Have a Zoom appointment with a private Endocrinologist next Wednesday evening.

ORIGINAL POST:

- I contracted Covid on the 27th Feb.

I have been pretty poorly - landing up in A&E needing to have my heart reset. Heart rate was 236 and blood pressure extremely low.

They don’t know what caused it but could have been a Mast Cell Activation reaction to Amoxycillin.

I upped my Pred dose from 5.5 to 10mg for about 5 days I think. Then a doc said that she’d like to see me come down again because it may be inhibiting healing. Came down to 8 for two days, 7 for two days and now on 6 - which I take at about 9am

I am waking up at around 3 to 5 am sweating and feeling a bit delirious at times.

I am also very shaky and weak.

I’ve been in and out of A&E with heart racing, shaky and horrible horrible anxiety

Not eating much - no appetite - but last night had a chicken thigh and pak choy. I try eat little meals all day - protein / a little veg / fruit (blueberries and apples.

Cortisol issues or hypoglycaemia?

Should I take my Pred at a different time?

I think you need to speak to your doctor - and I would at least go back to the previous dose you tapered from. Remind them of your history with the gall bladder - obviously you get infections easily.

The gall bladder thing was pre PMR but just to show that I don’t run major fevers.

I was on 5.5 pre Covid and thought that I was coping well - it took a long time to get there.

Upped to 10mg for 5 days during beginning of Covid infection. Then dropped to 8 for two days then 7 for two day’s then 6.5. And about four days ago went to 7mg.

Was just thinking to apply sick day rules because I felt like I was running a low grade fever and feeling poorly. But understand that this may not be a good idea.

Shall I stay at 7.

Haven’t been waking up with such severe sweating episodes or delirium feeling in the last two days on 7mg.

So shall I stay on 7?

I think you could give it a few days - but if you feel worse, reassess. And speak to a doctor.

Thank you so much for your reply. Will give it a few more days but will contact my go if it gets worse.

That sounds horrid. Hugs xxxTrouble swallowing could possibly be a symptom of GERD which might be related to the pred?

Oh really - yes perhaps.

I’m so tired

Have you called your GP again to talk through all your current symptoms? Maybe that could reassure you a little bit even if nothing improves quite yet.

No I haven’t.

SnazzyD said that she had intermittent temperatures for a while after Covid.

Will see how it goes.
