At the end of September I had a double knee replacement all going very well, On the 2nd of December I had my booster Covid vaccine Moderna, also went for a long walk first one since my knees replaced, next day I was all achy down the backs of my legs around my hips thought it was just over exercise , And this slowly increased over the next four weeks to the point a week ago I spent the night in A&E because I was unable to walk or move I was then time diagnosed with PMR ?. I was then prescribed Perdnisolone 20mg this has got me moving but I still need to ibuprofen in the morning to get going, but I don’t really know is how much exercise I should do my work is quite physical and like most people this has come as a shock and I don’t know how long it will last and how well the medication is supposed to work

..and maybe this for exercise - but you need to get PMR under control properly before you start - and if you are taking ibruprofen ( which you shouldn’t alongside Pred) doesn’t sound as if it is -,
You may find work very difficult especially if it’s physical, and your employers need to be aware of your PMR, under the Equalities Act they are required to offer help.
Have a browse through first post (not as bad as it seems at first glance ) and then come back with more questions . Sure others will be along shortly to give their thoughts .
Glad your knees are okay -been there with various joints! But those operation plus vaccine may have contributed to PMR arrival.
How rotten to be diagnosed with PMR, just when you were improving after your knee surgery. As DorsetLady says NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen are contra indicative with pred, so you should be careful taking them. In fact pred is the only thing that really works for PMR anyway. I don’t envy you having a physical job. PMR is life changing and it does seem to like to be in charge.
Not the first time I've heard someone mention PMR came on after surgery, I wonder if there is a link? The anecdotal examples I've come across before on Facebook groups etc it tends to be a short-lived version of PMR, so fingers crossed for you. Is it only in your hips or also in your shoulders?
And PMR is supposed to be bilateral, in hips and shoulders, yet I've come across people being dx with PMR with just one shoulder or hip or knee symptoms. I remember in one of Prof Dasgupta's videos he said it can be very hard to distinguish what is and what isn't PMR
Initially I imagine it probably is - I know exactly but I've had plenty of practice and my doctors accept that. Up to Covid I could keep the non-PMR stuff wel managed but since Covid the Pain Clinic and physio is pretty much gone. I was so pleased when my rheumy said he'd do the needful this week! I have a referral for another needling session - I can feel the difference already but there is more to do.
