A Thought

Just had an interesting "chat" with OH about booster jabs. I said that in reality I hadn't had a booster jab yet, end of Jan hopefully, she said.... won't go there with the rest, but I'm having another glass of wine. It crossed my mind though when the Government announce their statistics do those of us who've had three primary jabs count in the booster statistics or in the % of those who've not had the booster?

This booster business confuses me completely. At first the 3rd jab was called a 'booster', then came "people who have had three jabs will need a 'booster' three? months later".

It SO annoys me that we sensible people who have had the jabs have to continuously have boosters because of those complete, 'anti' bods who think they are above helping people to stay healthy just so that they can have a jolly/carefree life.🤨😬🤧😷

With respect, the perceived wisdom seems to be that the recommendation to have boosters is because the vaccines don't work so for so long nor as effectively as first thought. All the "anti" bods(sic) I have come across do NOT "think that they are above helping people to stay healthy so they can have a jolly/carefree life" In contrast to your assertion, the unvaccinated people I know are well educated, thoughtful, quiet living people who are very considerate of others, take great care of their health and do LFT's before they go out or meet others at a small social gathering. It is likely that many folk who have been vaccinated are far less careful, because they think the vaccination is "The Answer". It has been repeatedly and publicly stated that the vaccine does not prevent one catching the virus and nor does it stop it being passed on. However, indications are that, in the vaccinated, the disease may be less severe.

But I do agree, the whole situation makes no sense and is very confusing......... blame for this can be laid at the feet of political, medical, pharmaceutical and scientific establishments who cannot make up their minds about anything nor come to a consensus.

Sennetta is correct in saying that the boosters are given as a kind of 'top up' to any previous vaccination because the immune response that's developed as a result does now seem to quickly wane and diminish. However, this is a scary time for everyone..... particularly for those of us that are more vulnerable, and I can understand your anxiety and concern regarding keeping safe and well.

Good question, nicely phrased..,

Ask me one on sport 🤣😂

Probably get more accurate answer from the bottom of your glass of wine, or the tea leaves in your morning cuppa, or failing that, George!

Not sure I'll get to the bottom of the glass tonight, but I will chat to George in the morning, assuming I can see him in the snow.

Oh you’ll see him alright, he’ll feel right at home - as he’s from the foothills of the Himalayas (well maybe not him personally!)

George wasn't very helpful this morning, he finally admitted that he "didn't have clue about what I was talking about" 😭😭. Lots of snow this morning as well. ❄️❄️❄️🥶🥶🥶

Don't be daft - he wouldn't fit the bill for rolling out to the morning media round ... Lie through your teeth and admit NOTHING ;)

The statistics include 3rd jabs in with boosters. I wonder if our boosters will also be included?

Who knows - doubt they do either ;) Anyway - only the UK seems to have made a difference in the names - all boosters after the first 2 here ...

Increasing numbers of countries making life more restricted for the non-vaxxed and it certainly persuaded quite a few here to go out and get a jab.:) Have to be jabbed or recovered to go on public transport or the bar here ... And if you are over 50 - jab or no work and potentially big fines. Money talks!

When I had my third primary the nurse had no way of registering it as such and had to log it as a booster. I asked her to put in the comments that this was my third primary. So based on my experience the database that is being used does not have the facility to delineate between boosters and third primaries.

Here in the Northeast US the news tells us the highest percentage of vaccinations up to date. When you look it up, it's only the 1st jab, because it's the highest number and it sounds good. Never mind the 2nd one and the booster, it takes a lot of searching to find these numbers. We also have really long lines for testing, especially after the holidays. There are no particular guidelines from the state and each town, library, senior center, etc. makes up their own policies. Talk about confusing.
