Second booster

I just got notice that I'm due for second booster for Covid vaccine.

Since January 2021, I cheerfully tromped in to get all the prior jabs, and with the last two, had pretty nasty PMR flares. Plus I got Covid , with pulmonary embolism, 3weeks after the booster.(3rd shot)

Now, at time for the next booster, I find myself feeling anxious about the vaccine side effects for me. Any words of wisdom from all you folks. I have relied on your advice and opinions ever since my PMR diagnosis , in 2013.

You have answered questions and helped me make informed decisions about all the issues that we face with this pesky disorder.

What say you about my dilemma??? I am inclined to "bite the bullet" and get the booster, but I really don't want to be ill again.

Think you need to discuss this with your doctors, particularly in the light of the issues you had last time. I can understand your concerns, but the boosters are being offered for a very good reason.

However, we all have to make our own choice based on medical conditions/advice -and only you can do that.

Mmm - hear you - but the PE was due to Covid not the vaccine. The vaccine probably saved you from the situation being even worse. Lungs don't do well on Covid ...

Quite how anyone can describe the vaccines as experimental now is entirely beyond me - 16 months of very intensive use takes us out of THAT scenario! And it is exactly a possibly compromised immune system that makes them required. Covid kills even the formerly healthy if they don't get the vaccine.

Am editing this to say my last paragraph was in response to a comment that has been removed. But I will leave it - just in case!

Well we get the odd one ( and I mean odd in more ways than one!), but between Fran_Benson , PMRpro , MrsNails and myself we usually manage to report them before they can do too much damage....

The initial AstraZ two jabs gave me appalling PMR symptoms (in my joints - wrists, especially) that lasted (both) exactly 7 weeks. Then later (recovered) I had the Pfizer booster Pfizer and I was very apprehensive - and I immediately felt ... better, even from my generally improved Pred state! I am tempted to have a second booster now, and hope it produces no side effect or even a perceptible improvement. PMR is unreadable in my experience!

Have you been offered the same type of vaccine each time? I have (younger) family members who have had mixed vaccines, three shots total, and one in particular noticed very different reactions. She did not react well to A-Z (she did not tell me exactly what the problems were but they lasted a while) but had no issues at all with Moderna, which were her second and third doses. Another person would perhaps have experienced the reverse, as we are all different. Do you have any choice as to what kind of vaccine you will receive for fourth dose?

I've had the full cocktail. Initially 2 x AZ then Pfizer then Moderna. PMR started shortly after first jab so, in the absence of any other compelling factor, I'm minded to blame the initial jab but no problems at all with the following three.

Yes, for those who had a Third Primary vaccination followed by a Booster a few months later.

I've had 2 x OAZ and 2 x Pfizer and no problems with any of them
