I have had ankle swelling from fluid retention from prednisone but I never had pain before. My calf and shin is also very painful. I have a hard time putting my weight on my leg. This has been going on for about 4 days. I’m on 25 mg pred and I had 1 acetemra infusion. I sent a message to rheumatologist and am waiting for his response

Does anyone have ankle swelling and leg pain?
I would get medical advice today. The concern is that it is one sided, a recent development and it is very sore. It needs someone to rule out a possible clot or of more mechanical origin.
Have you overdone Christmas duties? Get those feet up. If you get no joy from your Rheumatologist, talk to your GP. Do you have a blood pressure device? That would be helpful. Willing to stand corrected but I don’t think that it is a particular side effect on its own, hypertension is. It needs expert advice, whatever the cause.
I take it this is only in one leg? You don't have any signs of a DVT do you? Heat in the calf for example?
I don’t have heat in my leg. Only pain. I have no other symptoms. I have a blood pressure monitor and my blood pressure is normal. I am anxiously awaiting my doctors reply
Because of the onset of pain, I'm so glad you contacted the doctor. I am now on 17.5 mg and did have lymphedema with swelling and heaviness. I'm not positive if I experienced 'pain' or muscle cramps and pain. Please let us know. The best💖
Yes I had ankle swelling last summer, but was uncertain if it was the predisolone or the heat, sent photos to GP, advice was to put feet up.
It’s not a blood clot. Muscle spasm in bottom of foot. Fluid retention in ankle and leg. Feels a little bit better today but still there.
try my mobility exercises nallufl24. No 1 should help as it does with mine. You may need a diuretic to help. I'm on furosemide 20mg which have helped. Perversely you need to drink about 2 liters a day so you don't dehydrate, but it helps. So does elevating feet. That should be above chest level.
