Leg hip pain

Hi all. I on 6mg and beginning of the week I missed a dose since then from hips legs even side of my feet are painful, sleeping with pillow between legs cause knees and ankles are really bad in morning, but when I take pain killers and use my hot water bottle it not so bad, so if the pain is better with painkillers does this mean it not pmr pain from missed dose? I'm due to go to 5mg tomorrow and got bloods on Tues.

If painkillers are helping the pain, they are possibly helping pain that is not PMR pain, although if you were OK before you forget a dose the other day it is possible your body is reacting to it. I think I would personally stay on the same dose rather than reducing just to check if things get better. Can you talk to your doctor about it?

Yes think I might phone just to check, rather than qIt till Thursday. Thanks

Pred can mask other pain like arthritis, I have found. So your missed dose could have had an impact. Your cosy solution sounds good for the pain. I wouldn’t be inclined to taper right now, you are in pain, it’s wet and cold outside and it’s Christmas. If you think you are flaring you might consider an extra 5 mgs for a few days then straight back to 5.5 is it? See what your doctor says. Sometimes being warm in bed and painkillers do take the edge of PMR, unless it’s psychological with me.

I've found even the pillow solution no longer works. I now sleep on my back with upper body slightly elevated and the pillow in the bend of the knees. Lately I've added a travel pillow to avoid having my head slump to the side. On my side I get hip pain, and/or my shoulder hurts. I do not like this aging business at all!

If you have pain that even only MIGHT be PMR after missing a dose - don't reduce any further until it is improved. I don't see the logic of reducing the dose a few days BEFORE a blood test. Doing it the other way round makes far more sense, especially if you are having problems. Dropping 1mg at time at this level is also a big jump - double the recommended 10%.

Thanks all, spoke to my Dr today she said yo stay as i am as got bloods tomorrow, as rheumatologist thinks it fibromyalgia if bloods results are normal I keep to tapering so can get off pred to start treatment for fibromyalgia, so Dr appointment fri am for blood results so waiting game til fri

Were the results raised before pred? If so - it wasn't fibro then. If you are on enough pred to manage the inflammation then the blood markers WILL be normal. Some of them don't seem to "get" that.

You can have both - but most people with both say they can tell the difference between the pain of each.

Yes they were high but can't remember how high, brain fog lately

Then it wasn't fibro at the start - or at least, not "just" fibro.

Not what you're looking for?
