My husband and I signed up a month ago - they send weekly emails asking you to fill in details of any possible Covid19 symptoms ( it only takes me about 2 minutes a week). In addition, they send you occasional antibody blood tests.
We sent our first tiny blood samples off in the post last Sunday and were just emailed to say that neither of us has “N” antibodies ( so we haven’t had Covid19), BUT we both have developed “S” antibodies- so the vaccines have worked. Hurrah!
We have both signed up as volunteer stewards at the local vaccination clinic (which I feel ok about now I know I have antibodies- will still be extremely careful though). Another good reason to be on Tocilizumab rather than steroids if possible ( and the reason NHS has extended Tocilizumab prescriptions during the pandemic).

I am participating and just did my first antibody test but I was disappointed because we just got a positive result, which doesn’t really mean anything without a number. I have done a test in the past that came back positive but my score was 8, which is negligible. I think it’s still best to be very cautious and I don’t feel reassured. I think they must have more information otherwise how can they track loss of immunity over time.
They don't really know what the figures indicate yet - but what they see over time is a reduction in the scores which is possibly a sign the immunity is also less. But the most accurate indication is the number of breakthrough infections being seen in vaccinated persons compared with the time since vaccination.
Yes, thanks PMRpro. I understand there is not a clear understanding of the scores but I think , if they are collating more information over time by testing that it would be helpful for us to get the full report. I have written to them so we will see what they say. I am just feeling disappointed because I wanted to compare my score with my husband and a previous test. Also, an explanation on the email that a positive report did not mean full immunity and immunocompromised people still need to be very careful would be good practice.
Definitely - but I suspect the people who do it are aware of that, it's the others who don't!I just said somewhere else - I've had my 3 jabs (it's all different here) but I'm assuming nothing and not testing out what protection I have!
Absolutely right, as usual, PMRpro. Sadly (maybe it’s just the Brits who are Bolshey, angry idiots and won’t be told anything?), we just made a very quick, nervous trip to our local Aldi and, despite big signs everywhere saying it is MANDATORY to wear a face covering, at least one in 3 customers were not. We will be going back to online orders for home delivery again. I despair. Likewise, all the indignation about the alleged Christmas party at No. 10 last Christmas has led a lot of people to declare they won’t be following any more Covid rules. What madness! We do what we need to for our safety and for the safety of everyone else.
I think that is what too many people don't understand - you are doing it for yourself as much as you are doing it for others but you are doing it for your mum, your gran, the girl next door having a baby. There are plenty of plonkers here too - but to be fair to the government here, at all levels, are on the case and you don't get in a shop without a mask and they are all seen wearing a maks all the time. I haven't felt unsafe at any time really - though I do make sure I keep well away from others. Most supermarkets are quieter than they used to be - though my Big Spar will be horrible again now the ski slopes have reopened and there are tourists too. There is a sign limiting the numbers to 182 and last year they were counted in and counted out. Not there yet!
Just got my first set of blood test results. It doesn't think that I have had Covid but can detect antibodies from vaccination. My last vaccine was at the start of December 21.
That’s good news. I’ve just received my second antibody kit to send off on a Monday. My last (3rd) jab was at the beginning of October so fingers crossed, I still have antibodies (and I will book my 4th jab once I get the results later this week).
