Dear forum, I have been sitting on 3mg of prednisilone since December 2020 after a slow taper. Everything was fine until my second AZ jab in May. Since then pain has been creeping in to the point I cant raise my arms and when turning in bed I wake up with the pain. After taking my 3mg dose in the morning I get some respite but still not enough to allow me to move freely. Should I add 5 mg to my current dose for 3 days and then drop straight down to 3.5mg on the fourth day and continue with this as my daily dose. I am very disheartened as I was doing great untill my second vaccination. Your help is greatly appreciated..

Hi, Sorry to hear this, but you are not alone in having a flare after a vaccine.
Personally I would be inclined to stay on the higher dose for longer than 3 days, that may not be quite long enough especially as it has been building up for a while……stay there at least a week. Then you should be able to drop back down as you suggest.

I had a flare after the second jab - not AZ, Moderna.
Like DL I'm not sure this is a flare that will cooperate with the "overshooting the dose" regime. You may need more than even the previous good dose. But the only way to find out is to try.
Thank you so much I do value your advice and support, I will try the increased dose and drop to 3.5 and if no joy I will have to resign to a higher dose with another slow taper. Thank you ladies
