Sorry to hear you've been having disturbed nights. How long have you been taking omeprazole? I believe it's not advised to be used over long periods as it upsets the acid balance in the stomach which in itself causes problems (happy to be corrected on this).I'm one of the fortunate ones not to have digestive problems but on several occasions have woken in the night with heartburn/indigestion and I've taken a big spoonful of plain yoghurt in small sips. I have literally felt the pain reduce with each sip as it moves along the digestive tract and calms it. This is a simple remedy and may obviously not be enough for some.

I hope you find a solution to your problem soon.

Hello, it’s odd that it has started 2 years after Pred. If there were problems directly caused by Pred I’d have thought they would have been present then or shortly after. Have you been taking Omeprazole from the time of Pred or just for this particular episode? Omeprazole in some can just worsen the problem. Have you been tested for Helicobacter pylori? It’s an infection in that can cause rip roaring dyspepsia. Have you pinpointed how it started and when? Was it gradual or sudden? Have you made a food diary to find out possible food triggers. How are you with fat?

I felt much better when I moved on to gastric coated Pred. I think some damage had been done because I occasionally get symptoms. I find over the counter Rennies and sips of water relieve it. I found the omeprazole caused as many symptoms as it was supposed to help, so I stopped taking it. You will have to taper off it carefully if you want to stop it. There can be backlash symptoms. I’m glad your tests were all clear.
