Another question - so grateful to all of you here as I feel I can ask any question and not be judged ! π So while on steroids and weaning - I stopped growing leg hair and underarm hair and very strangely stopped any perspiring underarms. ( I perspire everywhere else ! Sorry for all the details ! But is this cessation of perspiring in an area something anyone else has experienced . It feels very strange .

Query on hair growth and unusual cessation of perspiration
That is odd because I think that my leg hair might be growing a bit more slowly in recent weeks. I have been wondering about that.
If this helps, 51 years ago, after an op, I stopped sweating in exactly the same places and also the hair on legs and underarms .
They never resumed either growing or perspiring. However I then developed head sweats and I sometimes I have wished they had come back and the head sweats disappeared.
Wow ! Itβs so interesting - do you think it was some of the drugs related to the op or steroids ? - I donβt have head sweats but sweats back and chest . Itβs so bizzare . ππ
Neither, it was explained to me that as I had had a bi-lateral hysterectomy. The 'body clocks' had gone awry. Evidently trouble arises when those clocks get out of sync with each other.
PMRpro, many years ago and knowing me kindly explained, in words of one syllable, the HPA axis which involves the hippocampus, the pituitary gland, and the adrenal glands.
For the first time I sort of understood what I have been told all those years ago.
Then in 2017 these 3 Scientists won the Noble Prize:

Hope this helps.
Yup - only need I have for the epilator is for the baby down on my face. I wouldn't say I don't sweat underarms at all but it is certainly a lot less than it was. Pre-pred with PMR just being on the phone was enough for me to feel sweat runing down my underarms and spine.
π yes the arrival of the downy facial hair !!Last question I promise π- I was considering HRT prior to this Takaysus diagnosis . Is oestrogen a good or bad idea with pred .
Honestly don't know anything about HRT, Takayasu's and pred. I suspect though that if he feels the scan confirms the Takayasu's, you may get a different drug, tocilizumab/Actemra is approved in the UK for it without a fuss about it.
Why were you considering HRT? Was it because of the sweats? If so, with proper management you may not need it.
Yes prior to the myopericarditis post vaccine which then while admitted they decided I also may have Takaysus based on CT scan etc - now PER seems to confirm I had been on a low dose pill which had kept all menopause symptoms at bay but had to come off with the pred as it seemed to not agree .
Now the sweats / flushes / etc -
You are right maybe I should just let him
Decide what tx and give some space behlte trying to add anything new .
Soooo appreciate your advice . Thanks you
Apologies for all the typos and lack of commas/ full stops ! π Think I was having a moment!! . It was PET scan ! And before trying ! π
I thought it was great having hairless legs and not having to think about shaving before swimming. Fantastic for the lazy person like me!
I'm the same, hair-free armpits and no sweating from them - saves a fortune in deodorant - also no leg or arm hair. The only hair-related problem I have is the coarse wiry hairs that sometimes suddenly grow from the moles on my face. I pluck them out and can't believe how thick and tough they are.
Since taking pred I no longer have any body hair except the peachy face fuzz. Even my eyebrows are not as thick and hairy. This is certainly something I am not complaining about
As for the hot sweats, I get drenched whenever I do anything, looking like someone's chucked a bucket of water over me!
Well now I know why I no longer have underarm air!
