Perspiration

I’m on 2mg of pred now but find any exertion causes excessive perspiration on head and neck area. Could I be on too much pred as symptoms are well under control. Should I try dropping to 1.5mg please?

Certainly not too much Pred as 2mg is diddly squat and less than the amount of natural cortisol you need to produce daily. At this dose level your adrenal glands need to be making up for the lack of Pred. Usually your glands need to work from about 7mg. It might be that yours haven’t woken up enough to make up the difference which can cause sweats and all sorts of other symptoms like fatigue, shakiness, weakness, etc. So, I wouldn’t reduce at all for the moment. Sweats can be caused by other things so keep a note of any other symptoms too.

At 2mg I doubt it is too much pred doing it. If it were me it would be reminding me that possible the PMR is still there and the pred might not be quite enough. And all Snazzy has said applies on my part too.

Hi PPI have had that in the past (& no doubt will again as l drop lower) but for me it’s when my Pred is too low & l describe it as my body searching for Cortisol.....

I’d be inclined to try 2.5mg & pace yourself, you are probably not producing enough (if any) cortisol yourself so your body goes on a search for it.

There is a good explanation in FAQ’s - l’ll add the link shortly.

Kind Regards

Thank you so much, much appreciated. I look forward to reading the link. Also have painful neck and shoulders in the morning so may try up to 2.5mg

I’ve just re-read it & it wasn’t what l thought but l will find you a link that explains it as l want to add it to FAQ’s as it’s an often asked question. I understand it but it’s hard to explain fully so l’ll find an article.....
