Face and neck perspiration

Does anyone else suffer with severe perspiration on their head, face and neck whilst taking prednisolene. I’m only of 5mg but any exertion or sitting in warm places causes my face and neck to literally drip! 🥵

Yup ...keep a supply of tissue handy.

Hi Pinkpepper

Me too! It’s been awful these past couple of weeks 🥵 l asked the Consultant on Tuesday & he shrugged his shoulders as have all the Doctors l’ve asked! I’m at 12.5mg & l was at 7.5mg last year in the Caribbean & it was a total nightmare, l had to stay on the ship as it makes me feel very weak as well.

Next Cruise - Northern Europe!.....

I’ve found the heatwave we’ve had in the UK recently has made me feel quite ill, never felt that in the hot weather before.

in reply toPinkpepper

It is horrid once it gets into the 20s I just lay on the bed with a fan on me. I put a towel on the bed and dip my feet in a bowl of iced water every so often so the gel scarf at one end and the iced feet at the other helps me not be as nauseous. I have diabetes and my blood glucose can be double its usual morning level during heatwaves and I feel yuk. I suspect that is part of the pred issue too. It spikes my blood sugar and I sweat away. Excessive head sweating was one of the reasons I went and had tests for diabetes almost 20yrs ago. I had to stop wearing my makeup as after an hour my face had slipped a couple of inches. 😱🥵🥵🥵

Poopadoop recommended a cool neck scarf.

I bought two of these and only wish I had known about them 10 years ago.

Meno Cool Scarf. Absolutely been wonderful since they arrived.

I’ve just bought one for me and one for hub following a v hot Pilates session - I looked like I’d just showered! The cooling scarf is amazing.

YES! No perspiring anywhere else, I don't even need deoderant, but my face just 'glows' unless I have a fan on it. And add makeup or moisturizer and my face beads up. Thanks for posting this. I feel better.

I have less problem with Coppertone's Sport Suntan lotion.

Same here, just face and neck area. Especially under my hair line and back of neck!

Exactly the same problem. Under my hairline and halfway up the back of my head if the weather is hot or I over exert myself especially. It makes my hair really twirl out of shape 😳

Frizzy hair, I hate it

My head also sweats like a head band around my head & unfortunately there are times when l’ve been know to whip my Wig Off 🤦🏻‍♀️👨🏻‍🦲🙎🏻‍♀️

Can't say mine is severe but I never sweated on the back of my head and round my neck before the prednisolone. Now I do specially in this weather. Strangely it's not at the same times as the whole body flushes that the pred. also gives me.

I got my hair cut short because of head sweats. Regretting it now that the weather has cooled lol.

I'm trying to grow mine a bit at present but my resolve is slowly ebbing away!

Pink pepper 🌶 you are not alone. I can perspire so much, that it's dripping everywhere.

The good side, some people have asked me if I've just been to the local swimming club.

My hair is drenched nearly every day.

I carry a small white flannel in my handbag at all times. It's a good mopper upper.

😅

YuliK. Now on 5mg 👏👏👏👏

I'm on 4.5mg and still break out in a sweat usually the top half of my body. The temperature doesn't need to be warm it can happen at any time. I've never been one to sweat. Not sure if it's the PMR or Prednisolone. I suppose it's irrelevant what causes it, which ever it won't go until the PMR goes.

I sweat on my face and neck, and all down my back,l am also on 5mg of pred.l find the very hot weather really hard to cope with because of sweating so much.

I know sometimes it can be so embarrassing when you're on a bus full of people and your face and neck are dripping profusely!

I know your problem well. Every now and then I think it’s raining inside but it’s only sweat dripping off the ends of my hair and running down my back. It’s most unpleasant. I often have two showers a day after being soaked in sweat. I believe it’s a common side effect of pred.

Oh me too. I'm always saying to OH, are you not hot??? Memories of menopause!! Lol 😆 My hair becomes frizzy too especially round my neck, my hair is quite short.

Can I ask about the scarves, where can you buy them? Sound perfect for my upcoming trip to Rome!

in reply toYork54

That well known site - Amazon

There are several different types Hidden or SheffieldJane will send you a link l’m sure.

I have the gel now & plan on making my own scarves 🧣

If l do & it’s a BIG IF, l shall post a photo! 😉

in reply toYork54

Hi York. Plenty of variety. Once the gel is wet the scarf plumps up in the middle like a big sausage!

It still happens sometimes in the winter,if it is mild and humid, and l can never wear close fitting jumpers even in very cold weather.lt is so uncomfortable too when inside shops ,l have to quickly go outside or out into the mall.

in reply toGrants148

I dress like it's summer all year round. I used my air con in my car for the past two winters. Shops are terrible, I went with my sister and her girls last year and the changing rooms for so hot I had to "run" outside. If I visit people I have to go stand outside in the w inter to cool off where their heating is on.

Me too, and I must always wear cotton, which limits my 'look' fashion-wise. If I wear anything but cotton, I feel like I am wearing a plastic bag and steam up!

in reply toDianeA1

At Xmas everyone has a daft Xmas jumper...I have a daft Xmas t shirt. Lol.

in reply to

I have a Christmas 🎄 T-Shirt but it does have 3/4sleeves!

in reply to

I like sleeves at least down to my elbow. I have never been able to cope with cap sleeves. Three quarter sleeves are my ideal, especially in the sun too.

in reply toGrants148

I get himself to drop me by the Entrance to The Mall & l just wear a Pashmina if it’s very cold but l just wear a dress & often get mistaken for a Shop Assistant!....

in reply to

I bet you try and help them too.🤣🤣🤣
