Muscles
Probably not - the pain of a pulled muscle is damage as opposed to inflammation.
Just a thought Uglow. No it won't deal with muscle pain but you need to know what it is doing so you reduce the risk again. I believe that along with muscle waste which makes the muscle less able to take the load it used to it makes the muscle more pliable which means it is potentially able to resist small sharp pulls which previously could have damaged it. Basically you are more prone to muscle injury from doing something that wasn't a problem previously. Worth remembering.
Thanks I realise that in this incident I picked up a sock from floor I may have moved quicker than normal. It’s so hard you forget and just do what you use to. Then PMR says Nooooooo lol
try my mobility program Uglow. It takes you very gently to an improvement and may help. Maybe you need to rebuild some flexibility and a bit of strength.
Where is Mobilty program
search engine . Just type mobility. healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk....
Last October I had a grade 3 rupture of the gastrocnemius and soleus which was diagnosed by a sports physio as it was all the help I could get. At the time I thought it was just a pull and would heal in 6 weeks maximum so did not go to hospital and no GP available even by phone. By January this year it was a killer so eventually got a scan which revealed Unhealed calf muscle. The ankle is hot and cold, stiff and immobile and feel either like a lead boot or as if it’s full of live eels. After slow walking pain extends into back of thigh. Still waiting for physio referral. Hurts all the time, limping, can’t wear proper shoes, hurts a lot to drive, taking pain relief when I can’t bare it. I’m 59 - 5”1’ - 9 stone 7 so not too over weight ( I have heavy bones). It strikes me you could offer some advice..... I don’t want to have a slowing limp forever?
Hi stillsdisease, Like I said in my intro. to the exercise I am not a qualified professional, so any advice I offer is based on what I know works and common sense. You will have to apply your own common sense filters. So with that caveat, Firstly how exactly did you injure yourself. It would help to know. Secondly, it sounds like it was a serious tear which you did not sufficiently immobilise and overused trying to recover. Thirdly what steps did you take in rehabilitating it? It may mean you will have a complicated "mess" of muscle fibre which may or may not want to repair itself. Try my ankle rotation exercise which is very gentle and see how much rotation and mobility you can generate and come back to me. PM me if you like and we'll work something out. If you can't manage improvement that way it may be that surgery is required to excise the damaged muscle. It is possible you have scarred or even have non functional muscle there which has been starved of a proper blood supply and can't regenerate. I'm sorry, but I don't know enough of this area to help there. I hope that helps a bit.
Thank you, I accept the caveat but recognise those who exercise know about pain and recovery. I will PM you later. Many thanks for your reply 🚲
