Is this 1984?

In addition to 11 mg of steroids I am also now having to take 1 1/2 gms of Metformin and 4 insulin injections per day. I am only socialising outside with friends who are doubly vaccinated and I have not been to a restaurant yet. I have no current plans to visit a cinema or theatre yet and the club I belong to is on Zoom. I wear a mask in the street when I go out walking to protect my self as much as I can. I say all of this because we seem to be in Orwellian territory regarding this Covid pandemic. So many conspiracy theories abound as to why people won't have the vaccine from government control of the masses, to it being dangerous, to some very whacky ideas from the likes of David Ike and Piers Corbyn. Personally I shall carry on as I am and hopefully get a booster jab in September plus my annual flu jab. In the meantime nobody is welcome in my home who has not been vaccinated.

I sense a feeling of anger in your words. I get kind of angry at times: I can't describe my feelings exactly but certainly there's frustration and deep sadness at times because on a personal level I've missed out on things I so wanted to be part of like attending a wedding, a christening and the two funerals of loved ones. It's not ****** fair, is it? However, we have to find joy in whatever we can and be thankful for what we do have and what we are able to do and concentrate on those things. Many are are bound by their physical limitations where even a walk in the fresh air is beyond them or have no family to support them and it's those people who have my utmost sympathy.

You are doing all you can to stay away from possible infection and so you should. Many of us will agree and are responding to the threat similarly. I 'spoke' to my nephew by email yesterday and said that I'm tired of this game and don't want to play any more 😏. However, I have plenty of time to read, do a bit of craft work, plan meals, chat to friends and share a joke (technology has come into its own!) and go out for walks.

Keep your chin up, look forward to better times ahead and live for today.

It will get better!

I’m still not letting people in my house routinely and I so miss entertaining. Just because people are vaccinated doesn’t mean they are not carrying it into my house for others to get sick. I know enough people being still very ill even with double vacc. It’s really taken the fun and spontaneity out of life hasn’t it?

Yes, the spontaneity! I miss having people round for a meal. I've forgotten all the niggling details concerning what to serve, getting the timing right, hoping they enjoy it!!!!! Nobody has been over my doorstep apart from the telephone engineer who had to come in briefly to check the line after he'd fixed the outside problem.I'm looking forward to the house being full again.

Yes, it’s a bit weird offering a telephone engineer an 8 course tasting menu isn’t it?

Another curse of mankind is being judgemental toward others, but I do get your point. The only problem being that even vaccinated people can get Covid and carry it to others.
